Diet change (self.starbucksbaristas)

So I’ve been gaining weight ever since I started working here. Sadly I’ve been eating 3-4 times a day but eating snacks whenever I take a 10. So I work the open shifts and eat around 8am and become starving around 1 but I eat a snack here and there till 1. Around 5 I still eat but light. Is there a way I need to stop eating so much? I wish I can have time to exercise but on my off days I try to rest since I work at least 35 hrs per week.

hey! so happy you’re thinking of a lifestyle change! usually it is pretty hard to stop snacking if you continue eating every break, so what’s helped me is instead of eating drinking a bunch of water and going on a walk on my 10. i find i actually get a lot more rested too. water also will help you feel more full for longer and in order to get healthier you also have to drink a lot of water. so that time period between 8 and 1 - try to not snack because those can really add up but still leave you hungry. best of luck!!! it’s so hard when you’re around those syrups and whipped creams all day.

Thank you so much!!! It’s been a struggle trying to stay fit and not feel super hungry through the day. Oatmeal is a good way to feel good but I’ve been getting tired of it since I like flavor in my breakfast

I bring my own little chopped fruit from home to add to the classic oatmeal. And I have them make it with steamed almond or coconut milk.

love this lmao! the oatmeal does kinda suck. i’ve been eating the new kale egg bites for my lunch break. also another thing i’ve been thinking about doing is bringing in some whole wheat like super healthy bread from home just so i could eat a sandwich with those egg bites ! they’re pretty okay with sriracha.

The egg white bites are so good with Valentina... which is Mexican hot sauce.

I like to bring rice and mix the egg bites in

What are you drinking for your mark outs? I recommend low calorie options such as:

CB chocolate:
1 pump mocha, almond milk cold foam w/ sf vanilla
35 calories

Honey almond cold brew with almond milk, use one packet of honey not the syrup.

Avoid frapps anything white mocha etc.

For your meal mark out the salad is great at 420 calories and 29 grams of protein.

I haven’t been drinking a lot of coffee lately so just unsweet black tea or a green tea sometimes apple juice. But I’m also vegetarian so I eat oatmeal or southwest veggie wraps if I haven’t eaten dinner or bagels....

I try to drink a lot of water. I have a personal rule of drinking my Nalgene (1L) of water before eating any food or drinking coffee.. I find that my appetite doesn't usually wake up unless I'm really tired. Then alll I want is almond croissants and coffee cake.

My best advise for loosing or keeping off weight while working as a barista is:

-Walk on at least one of your 10’s
-Bring things for meals or to add to whatever you’re eating (veggie sticks, nuts, fruit)
-Eat something that is full of fiber and protein at the beginning of your shift and save the carbs for later when you need a pick up.
-Drink a venti water before and after your shift and between any other beverages you mark out.

If you can, try bringing food from home! I’m always so much more full when I eat my own food and not starbucks food. It’s pretty tough when you’re opening to bring your own food but it’s definitely worth it in my opinion!! I always pack something for my ten (usually an apple or some kind of fruit), and then an actual meal for my break. Also I totally feel you on the exercising, its so tough😭
