hello all!! i've been working for my store for about 4 months and since working there i've had another job and trade school on my plate. i made my SM aware of this from the moment i started working and she made it seem like she was willing to be extremely flexible and as if she was understanding. now, my externship for school is starting soon and i told my SM that i was going to need to go on a new schedule in order to keep working and attending my externship and she hit me with "You have to work on your starting schedule for at least 6 months before you start changing things up on me". now im afraid she won't allow me to change my hours of availability.

long story short, would i be able to apply to a different store with my new hours of availability or would i have to put in a transfer request? and if i do have to put in a transfer request: how do i do that?????? pls help 😣

That sounds totally false. I’ve been hired twice and I’m almost positive I’ve changed my availability before 6 months both times

If she is not willing to budge, you may want to see if you can transfer but you’ll have to ask her. Otherwise you can just change your availability online anyway and see what happens

I also both changed my availability and transferred during my first 6 months. I would try for the transfer to see if there’s a store nearby that will accommodate your new availability. The first step is usually for you to call other managers and talk with them. If your current manager puts up a fuss, don’t be afraid to reach out to your DM because they’ll usually be willing to help in these situations (the good ones, at least). Best of luck!
