how do you remember how many pumps go into drinks?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by dwightshru
and please don’t say 1-1-2-3 or 2-2-3 or something like that. because i’m genuinely so confused. those rules aren’t interchangeable with syrups and other elixirs. for example, a drink may come with 3 pumps of liquid cane depending on the size, and then i’ll get that same size but it’s only two pumps of idk caramel syrup. so how do you know the number of pumps when it applies to different syrups? someone help, my trainer was really sweet but I feel so dumb at this point.

you literally just have to memorize it. there’s no real way to remember- over time you just do.
most hot drinks are 2/3/4/5. most cold are 3/4/6/7 cold bar (half) pumps. frappuccinos are 2/3/4.
that’s where you start^ from there, you learn the exceptions.

And you can always cheat when doing frapps by copying the numbers on the bases!

So it’s gonna take time getting used to it but every time you add 4+ ounces to something it gets another pump. So a tall is 12 oz. it gets 3 pumps, add 4 oz. (16) becomes a grande and it gets 4 pumps. And so on A caramel macchiato would get one pump less though bc it has drizzle on top so it’s already has extra sweetness. Hope this helps!

I'm not a green bean but starting g to get my first real shot at bar, and I NEVER even considered this. This is so helpful!

Okay so it depends on the drink and the type of pump for the syrup (cbs which are the shorter pumps and hbs which are just the regular pumps) so any iced teas, iced coffees, pretty much all the other drinks follow the 2-3-4-5, cold brews are 1-2-3-4 because were using hbs, and for frappes it’s 1-2-2 if you’re using hbs (like for a chai or mocha frappe) but 2-3-4 if you have the cbs pumps, I hope this kinda helps

For cold brews you use full pumps not half pumps?
ImpressiveVariation02 points2y ago
Yup, it’s what I’ve noticed everyone does at my past stores anyways

My personal way I learned it was by memorizing that fraps were 2-3-4. With that, I know lattes are one pump more with the exception of a venti iced, which is two pumps more. I know for the double shot on ice, it’s 1 pump per shot. For teas, the shakers have a dot on them that tell you (but it follows latte standards so if you forget, you can check there, and if you forget fraps, you can check the cream base, which is why that was what I memorized. That covers most drinks and was where I started to help me memorize it. Eventually you do just have to have it memorized, but sometimes you need a little hand getting there, you know? Hopefully that helps get you a start

Hey guys, how many classic do you put in cold brew and iced coffee. And how much LCS in green teas.
luvhen1 points2y ago
cold brew is 1/2/3/4 and it doesn’t get classic it depends on the drink and for iced coffee it is classic syrup if they still want that in there considering they put other stuff like white mocha etc and it’s 3/4/6/7 & for LCS it’s 3/4/6/7 as well
