submitted by peachiez_
hi!! i’m a 5 month green bean and i’m gonna be having my first closing shift next week. i always work in the afternoons but never had to close, andddd now i do. if anyone has tips to make close faster and what i should be doing, i’d really appreciate it 🥺

Get everything broken down and cleaned asap. Some things you have to wait until close to do but you should have all your stocking/preps done. Each store is different though so check with your closing shift with the timetable your store tends to use

clean clean clean make sure a good 90% of dishes that can be cleaned before closing are done because it will spare you so much time trust me on tbis all of my shifts are closing ones i love them but also make sure things are stocked too

Every store does it slightly differently but when I first started closing I always asked to be on dishes rather than closing the floor. That way I knew I couldn’t miss anything because it was just dishes lol

But yeah number one— is start early on tasks you can. Like stocking and prepping. If you all clean the ovens at close, maybe shut one off and clean it early.

When I did transition to closing the floor I made myself a to-do list with the help of my shift and fellow barista. It made things easy!

if you think you’re ahead of schedule on dishes... you’re not !! wash some more. they’re a little bit never-ending

Yea if you have the dishes done or at least close to being done, everything else is super easy to wipe down quick. If you clean stuff throughout the day, it makes it easier on you when you close the store

make a checklist of everything that has to be done by close so you can make sure that any spare time you have is used to start closing tasks!
