ASAP. The beginning of your pregnancy is the most important. You don’t want to be stuck doing clean play and whatnot. At least the first trimester you want to take it easy. Too much heavy lifting can cause a detachment, then a miscarriage can happen. I know this from personal experience.

From a legal perspective, you are never required to. You could go into labor in the bathroom and it's still none of their business. The choice is yours based on YOUR needs.
