30 minute hand washing timer and eczema don't mix. Anyone have good balms or creams WITHOUT COCONUT that might help me from not bandaging my fingers every night?!(i.redd.it)

If you haven’t already tried it, aquaphor has always saved my dry cracked hands

YES. When I was on accutane in the winter my hands were SO painful- dry and eczema. I would put a layer of lubriderm lotion, then a layer of aquaphor, then wear white cotton gloves ($1 at the drug store) overnight. In the morning my hands would be SO much better.

Lush - lemony flutter cuticle butter. I use it on my driest, most cracked, awful skin and it heals me up fast. It seems a liiiittle greasy but just rub a bit of it into the dry areas and give it time to sink in. Dream Cream is magic as far as lotions go. But yeah, HIGHLY recommend lemony flutter on those super dry patches. Life changing.

I used that many years ago! But after my allergy tests came back with "you're so allergic to coconut you need an epipen" I had to stop using Lemony Flutter 😭😭 I'll look into Dream Cream tho!
aliennegirl3 points2y ago
Oh no, I didn’t realize it had coconut, I’m sorry! 😩 I couldn’t survive without it.

This is gonna sound weird but Corona Cream-- the type they use on horses-- is the only thing keeping my hands together this winter. It's kinda sticky so I'd advise putting it on your hands before you go to bed, but it like... knits my hands together overnight, I swear.
(I just checked the ingredients. No coconut.)

I second this!! My aunts hands were terrible from work, but after using this a few times the difference is crazy good.

Eucerin is amazingggg for my eczema. I use the eucerin eczema cream at night with cotton gloves to sleep in and the normal advanced repair throughout the day. I still get little splits every now and then but it seriously helps so much

my fingers would crack until I got some Kiehl’s ultimate strength hand salve. my fingers are still a bit rough but that stuff works really well, it doesn’t sit on top of your hands but actually sinks in. it is a little pricy. also my store has lubriderm around the place, and I try to use it after washing my hands.
misskatthebrat [OP]2 points2y ago
Heh I don't mind spending good money and good product. Also my mom uses lubriderm and some aggressively floral perfume constantly and I can't stand the lotion anymore. Bleh. But I will look into the Kiehls! Thank you!

I have O’Keefes working hands but honestly it doesn’t do much for me and just sits on top of my skin.

palmer’s cocoa butter is a life saver
misskatthebrat [OP]1 points2y ago
It is my favorite!

Het a pair of aloe gloves and put aveeno lotion on and then the gloves before you sleep. Bag balm is also good
kreborn172 points2y ago
Shea butter and lubriderm helps me. I deal with the same thing.
I also use hydrocortisone for hives from the wash and sanitizer.

I use Corn Huskers Lotion. Feels weirdly sticky until it rubs in, but is pretty much just the base material for other lotions (i.e. the good stuff). Then at home a bit of aquaphor healing ointment bon the really bad bits.

It’s a little pricy but the Norwegian hand cream from neutrogena has been amazing for me. It looks like a balm but has the consistency of a cream and absorbs relatively fast!
allamericanogirl2 points2y ago
Aveeno’s advanced repair cream! Gonna be honest, I haven’t read the label but I don’t think it has coconut. Doesn’t smell like coconut. But it’s the best stuff I’ve ever used for my hands. Just one use and the cracking and drying is totally gone.
misskatthebrat [OP]2 points2y ago
I do use aveeno for regular skin care and completely enjoy it! I will check out the advanced cream, thank you!

O’keefe’s (in the green disc). My kid is allergic to coconut and has never had an issue with it and it is THE BOMB. I put it on about a half hour before work and it helps protect all day and then I use it liberally when I get home. I’m prone to getting deep cracks in my fingers/thumbs and this is the only thing that helps.
Keyndoriel2 points2y ago
Don't know for sure if its got coconut or not as im currently out and havnt read the label that deep, but Duke Cannon's Bloody Knuckles has been hands down the best lotion I've ever used.
Liquid Gloves might also be good for just establishing a barrier between your skin and soap. It's not a lotion, more of a preventative.
Groundbreaking_Bag91 points2y ago
I second liquid gloves!

Pipette squalane baby balm then wearing socks on my hands while I sleep. You can do a pretty decently thick layer on the really bad spots as long as you have those socks on!
ladytaters2 points2y ago
The socks were always my trick. They help keep the moisture against your skin.
Breve4kix1 points2y ago
Anything lanolin based! Usually pretty cheap, PipingRock has a 100% lanolin balm for less than 9$ rn

Manuka honey salve

I like the brand Green Goo. Their Skin Repair Salve does have Coconut Oil as an inactive ingredient, but their $1, $1, and their $1 are all Coconut product free.
