I just get the shift whenever the customers don’t wear the masks right. I’ve been spoken to about the way I ask customers to wear their mask, apparently there’s been both customers and coworker complaints that I was rude to the customers. My manager actually said told me we can’t create a welcoming environment if I’m “attacking customers when they walk in the door” I don’t know what’s rude about “excuse me, you forgot your mask” but I just get a manager every time now. I give up being the one to say anything, and cheer on my coworkers for saying things I can’t get away with.

Edit: I’ve been spoken to about it 3 times.

My SM used to be on that bullshit "Baristas are not permitted to comment on customers not wearing a mask. Get the the attention of a shift, they are trained to de- escalate situations". But now we say it all the time with usually no problem.

Id be so mad tho if i got scolded for it however. I have a right for a safe work place

My favourite is when I can see them on the camera wearing it at the drive thru order screen and I can barely hear them but then they take it off as soon as they get up to the window. I’m wondering where the logic is but at the same time, I’m not surprised.

I’m like the only person at my store who asks people to pull their masks up. My shifts don’t even support me they let regulars get away with it and stay silent. I’ve had to be the one to talk consistently and grab masks for people. It’s just getting so exhausting.

I don’t work at Starbucks, but I work in a hot/cold deli, and so many people do this it’s so annoying. And then they’ll claim they can’t hear you with the mask on.

They’ll often eat things in front of us, without their mask on. Like, can’t you wait until you leave the store?

Sometimes customers come in without a mask, entirely.

Most annoying instance was a lady saying she appreciated us essential workers so much whilst she was STANDING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DELI. Like, in the worker zone, whilst pulling down her mask and being super specific. Ugh.

Was taking an order and politely asked a customer to raise their mask, and then they name dropped my district manager and said they don’t have to pull their mask up 🙃

Lady walks in with a mask that says “combat covid”. She then has to repeat herself twice because she’s mumbling to the food case. The third time she repeats herself she takes off her mask and I politely ask her to keep it on while she talks. She replies “well can you hear me” and I (very frustrated at this point) go “if you talk louder I can” and she talked louder.
