Tall rant (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by AffectionatePut5166
I’m an SSV and was on shift with a barista and another recently signed off SSV. I asked where they wanted me assuming they were running shift and they questioned if they were so I basically said it was up to them and they tossed me paperwork and said do whatever you want
So I went on to run shift and then they got pissy every time I did any of the SSV stuff??

I’ve worked for starbucks longer than anyone in store except the manager (about the same time) and the SSV and AM are always making digs about me liking being in control/being a know it all etc when I know answers to questions they’ve asked me because they didn’t know and I’m so sick of it all and needed to vent

Yeah I feel you. Sometimes when I’m normal coverage and I don’t see a lot of stuff being done I’ll just kinda start doing the delegating/take care of any shift stuff that needs doing... some fellow SSVs like it, some don’t. I would recommend talking to them about it! Perhaps if they are new, trying your best not to do ANYTHING that a shift does will help them for whenever another SSV isn’t present?

edit: also, them being petty because you actually know your shit is dumb lol

Oh yeah the day before they ran shift entirely alone I didn’t do anything unless they asked questions and I’m going to do that again this week because it just annoyed me to hell that I asked if they wanted to run and they handed me everything so I just don’t get how they could then get frustrated

And true it’s super annoying being taken the piss out of for knowing how to do my job
