I knew everyone would be getting their hours cut after the holidays, but I didn't realize that would mean going from 36-38hrs a week to 26.... That's not full time and definitely not livable. What the heck???
urlocaltransboy39 points2y ago
i went from 20 to 8 <33333 :) definitely not stressful at all!!! ahahaha!! /s
w0lfwes [OP]8 points2y ago
That's horrible. I'm so sorry :(((
buteragb18 points2y ago
same :( had 36 now i have 29, doesnt sound like a huge difference but during the whole month that money adds up
w0lfwes [OP]13 points2y ago
Yeah, that's sorta why I was freaking out. I know we keep our benefits even if we are part time but I already barely make enough to live off of... Fingers crossed minimum wage is changed since the Starbucks "raise" we all got was non-existent.
thebeancakes17 points2y ago
Try going from 25 to 2.5-8, the pain.
spicyspinach8 points2y ago
Im so sorry 😢 2.5? I tho the minimum hour is 4hrs?
thebeancakes5 points2y ago
Starbucks inside of a retailer so it's different
spicyspinach5 points2y ago
Oh I see ;( yeah, some shifts tried to send us home early to but need to wait for at least 4hrs
KarluhO3 points2y ago
Can you elaborate on this?
RepStewart16 points2y ago
We were already struggling with hours and mine got cut from 24ish to 10... so that’s been great 👍🏼
LimitedCourage13 points2y ago
I went from 38 to 16 and we also hired new people AND they're pressuring us to make our drinks faster on drive thru
depressoroast10 points2y ago
It’s ridiculous. And I feel for you guys. In my area we are being asked to schedule to what we earn, not what they forecast us. It ends up being about 30 hours less. I’m doing everything I can to get my team hours but it’s so stressful. it’s not sustainable for any of you, plus the added work with COVID. It’s bullshit.
HippieinBlack7 points2y ago
We’re all feeling the effects. You’re not alone. This sucks a lot. I went from 35 to 24.
nightkat895 points2y ago
I work... 3 days on our new schedule. I also have open availability and getting less hours than new hires.
I also get my benefits through Starbucks. Looks like I’m rationing my insulin again guys!
stqmine1 points2y ago
No don’t do that please ):
nightkat891 points2y ago
Not like I have an option, you know?
Avuneon4 points2y ago
Sure, the pay was increased, but then they slashed everyone's hours. That's why I quit. I couldn't handle it, along with the stress from abusive customers.
bexbux1 points2y ago
did you have money or what do you do now?
Avuneon3 points2y ago
I'm now working as an executive assistant, and I am much happier. Different stress, and much more manageable. Regular hours, reliable pay.
ih8yogurt3 points2y ago
Yea I went from 30 to under 20.
bexbux2 points2y ago
omg i really thought it was just my store. we aren’t as busy anymore and it’s crazy 🥲 i applied for partial unemployment to make up for the hours I’m not getting. I only worked two hours today. I might as well not even go if I’m getting sent home early all the time 🙄
ghoulboy12 points2y ago
I went from 20 to 15 or 14. I'm an adult who needs insurance. No one seems to give a fuck.
NuttrButt2 points2y ago
Went from 30ish like 20 :(
Kaywin1 points2y ago
My SM opted to let me go because I couldn’t give her unlimited availability 5 days of the week including 2 weekend days without any minimum guarantee of hours.
Some SM’s and some districts are just not it, I guess.
ToritoBurito1 points2y ago
Baristas at my store went from getting 30 or so hours a week to 10 or less.
FelicityCecilia1 points2y ago
Ahhhhh same, wont make rent next month. Applying to more part-times cuz i havent gotten food in 3 weeks F
perfecktenschlog1 points2y ago
29 to 18 🥲 and to make it even better i’m a shift and even baristas are getting more consistently high hours than i am
gabbysafari1 points2y ago
Like I get that I’m just a high schooler and don’t need hours as much as everyone else, but I went from like 15-20ish hours to only 8 hours a week :/ my schedule is super open too so it’s not like that’s the issue. I’m just tryna not be in hella debt this fall in college.
dstnygn1 points2y ago
bro i literally asked my manager to cut me to 20 hours max because im starting school. she gave me a few weeks with 19-22 and now its up to 25. i was only doing 29-32 before. i feel for y’all with cut hours, but im frustrated that i can’t get less.
Kyenne_Pepper1231 points2y ago
Based on what I was told, “full time” or 35+ was only guaranteed for shifts and that a typical barista shift was between 15-25 hours a week
Kovaxz2 points2y ago
This. Baristas aren't full time employees. It's in all the stuff you sign. Read your contracts guys. This is how sbux fucks it staff.
nopenotamanda1 points2y ago
I’m at barley 10.
plushiequeenaspen1 points2y ago
Licensed store but yeah I went from 39 to 23, and then everyone went into quarantine while I took some time off, and I ended up with 39 again this week anyway.
Ptotw881 points2y ago
That really sucks, I actually gained 10 hrs which would be nice if I wasn't a full time accounting student
princesssbux1 points2y ago
SSV and I went from 38+ pre pandemic to 25-30 post pandemic (I offered to work less hours so my peers could be at FT) to now less than 20. We have a couple of shifts who need 40 hours so I’m kind of on the fuzzy end of the lollipop here.
Thankfully I have unemployment to supplement pay but I actually want to work and need to hit benefit hours. So a little stressful right now. 😬
[deleted]1 points2y ago
16hr a week to no work for 2 weeks. 4 hour shift tomorrow though 😖
slamy4201 points2y ago
Lol Im at 15
Boomdoke1 points2y ago
Went from 38-21 not loving it
Disastrous_Excuse2471 points2y ago
Im at 15 rn 🥲
Brudda-Seb1 points2y ago
25 to 16-18, kinda understandable with the holidays but it’s a noticeable drop on the paycheck
rio8envy71 points2y ago
I went from somewhere around 27.5/28 to 24.5. Not as much of a drop but i need money and have been picking up extra shifts to get back to around 28 hours.
Several_Beautiful_981 points2y ago
yeah LOL i went from 25 to 8-10 :(
meloscav1 points2y ago
36 to 14 🥴 but we also hired like three new baristas
epixgamer641 points2y ago
I went from 25 to 20, I am part time but it still sucks
