Question about pour over scoops (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by idk_whattonamethis
I'm doing the coffee academy right now, and it says that the correct amount of coffee is 2 tablespoons for 6 fl oz of water. I realized that the correct amount of scoops for a tall (12 oz) pour over is three scoops, and each scoop is 2 tablespoons. Can anyone explain why it is like this? Why wouldn't it be two scoops for a tall (4 tablespoons for 12 oz)?

It is also three scoops for a short which confuses me too.

My pour guide, attached to my grinder, says 3/3/4/5. It makes no sense to me because that seems like super strong for a short.

Maybe I’m not understanding your question but I’m pretty sure it’s 2/3/4 scoops for pour overs by standard (I remember because it’s the same as the pumps/scoops for Frappuccino’s.

Hmm, that would make more sense to me, as that is closer to the 2 tablespoons per 6 oz rule, although in the coffee academy it says that a tall is 3 scoops or 30 g of coffee for a tall, and at my store my partners have told me it's 3/3/4/5 for short/tall/grande/venti. I am just confused at the moment lol. I did training awhile ago and I can't remember everything exactly.
