it costs NOTHING to be a decent person (self.starbucksbaristas)

we have a new green bean, she’s so sweet and still learning bar. she knows enough to be there by herself, but she still needs a lot of help (and we’re all happy to do so!) and today, we were short staffed so we put her on cafe mobile bar (I tried to switch her over to DT because we’ve been getting mobile orders like crazy today and didn’t want to overwhelm her, but she insisted it was okay). Like, for the most part she did great. We were kind of behind on orders and I was helping out where I could, and this guy walks up to the bar and asks, “Do you know when my order will be ready? I’ve been waiting for 20 minutes.”

At first we were shocked he waited that long, and he made a huge scene over it. Insulted the new barista and said “if you can’t handle a couple of customers then maybe you need to find a new job” like??? what the hell. she’s been here barely 2 weeks, i’d like to see HIM do what we do during peak with a 4 partner play. My back is in excruciating pain right now, my feet hurt, i have a headache, and i have syrup in places i didn’t know it can get. he’s not the only person that had been waiting a long time (come to find out, he had only been waiting 7 minutes for his order when he got pissy). he kept going on about being in a rush and having to get to work for an important meeting and it’s like?? then why stop at the busiest starbucks in the area and order 4 drinks AFTER BEING TOLD IT WOULD BE A *LONG* WAIT? especially knowing you have an important meeting to attend???

the green bean looked so crushed, but we all made sure she knew she was doing good and to ignore him, because apparently some people don’t have common sense and think, “oh i have 15 minutes to get to work, let me just ~stop by starbucks~ and order 4 complicated lattes that will take a while to get out :)”

Yeah I don’t know why but people decided to be COMPLETE ASSHOLES at my store today. One person told me when we were out of RFT that I ruined their child’s day... like why are you taking out your problems the baristas??? Thank you for encouraging your green bean and I hope they don’t get too down on themselves due to this neg interaction!

if your child’s day is ruined over a RFT i think you have other things to worry about 😬 starbucks customers are something else

People have absolutely no concept of time. I’ve had people say things like that and then I’ll look at their sticker and say, “Huh. That’s odd. Cause according to this TIME STAMPED sticker, you’ve only been waiting about 5 minutes.” Then they shut up. I cannot stand people who claim to be in a rush and complain that they’re gonna be late. If you’re gonna be late, don’t stop at Starbucks. Just go to work. You probably have a coffee maker at work you are more than welcome to use. Don’t blame me for your poor time management.

When I worked at Sbux years ago we had a super sweet young girl working for us and she was on DT taking orders and this guy pulls up and freaks out on her because he’s been waiting and he’s going to be late, blah, blah, and she tries to apologize in her sweet way, saying how busy we are this morning etc. And he asks her if she’s stupid and why can’t he get a drink in a normal amount of time. She was in tears and I said I’d take over and I said, “I’m sorry you’re late but if you’re in a rush maybe don’t stop at Sbux when there’s 6 cars ahead of you and you know it’s going to take a bit.”
He was pissed and said, “I want to speak to your manager!”
Our AM comes up and says, “what’s the problem, sir?” And he rants about being late and shitty service and the AM says, “If you’re that late maybe you should learn to prioritize your time and not stop.” Then he told him that we don’t serve people who are rude to our staff and asked him to go elsewhere. And while the man was trying to come up with a response he said, “Have a nice day!” And closed the window. It was awesome!! And our young partner said, “You guys are the best!” 👍🏻

Ooooooh I would have been an asshole to this guy. “I didn’t realize you can do a better job.. would you like to put an apron on?”

And I definitely would have gave him decaf. I don’t give a FUCK.

i didn’t make his drinks but MAN i wish i would have. there were 5 of us working that night, including the green bean. the four of us who dealt with this asshole didn’t give him an ounce of kindness, because he didn’t deserve it

People forget that Starbucks is a business and that it is our RIGHT to refuse service
