The entire night crew putting their two weeks in after Hell Shift Supreme (i.redd.it)

Wtf?? I have a night shift that found out how to get a false positive test and was bragging about it to everyone they’ve been out 4 weeks
GhosttMutt [OP] 88 points 2y ago
Nah the managers just said they don't care if we're struggling, night shift isn't even that bad and if the job is so hard we should find another one. So we all either put in our two weeks or transfered ✌️✌️
This wasn't the only reason just the last straw lmao
hautsause 64 points 2y ago
Management thinking night shift isn’t hard and only opening is worth giving labor to is so beyond shitty. I’ve had days where we’re so slammed we can’t breathe, running 70 customers in 60 minutes, steady until close with only 2 partners and no closing tasks done. But opening gets 6 or 7 partners and they’re always posting their group selfies and telling us our closes were shit because we didn’t stock enough lids for them.
mmpotpie78 11 points 2y ago
omg...our night crew gets complaints for stocking TOO MUCH lol
maybe we won’t stock at all...jk...kind of...
BuffyBoltonVampFlayr 14 points 2y ago
Why tf would anyone complain about this???
BuffyBoltonVampFlayr 10 points 2y ago
Wait so yall really had like, a walk out?? Hella people busy like up and quit/transfered at the same time?
GhosttMutt [OP] 13 points 2y ago
No one quit on sight but yeah pretty much! I could go on for hours with how terrible this store is tbh
Jay-rodMo 45 points 2y ago
I love when we’re told to get our DT times up in order to have more people. We’re literally so busy all up until close that we get out late almost everyday. Then we’re told we can’t get out late but we can’t have more people. Also we’re told to not take any shortcuts to close faster. Fun fun
NervosaNervous 32 points 2y ago
The whole DT thing drives me absolutely bonkers. If we’re in the red, it means we’re so slow we don’t need extra people, but if we’re in the green it means we’re so busy we do need people?!? It makes absolutely zero sense. If we’re in the red, it means we don’t have enough people on the floor to get us in the green. I feel like whoever made that decision never worked as a Barista a day in their lives.
GhosttMutt [OP] 21 points 2y ago
Exactly! It's always something wrong even when we're slammed up until close and almost get run over closing drive. Not to mention how much creepier and rowdier people tend to get at night. I think through shared trauma of sbux night crew got really close and agreed none of us should be treated like this
Month_Puzzleheaded 14 points 2y ago
Everyone gives crap to night crew but won’t stay longer to help out or finish the task they are supposed to be working during morning shift. I have had my SM tell me that to stay in night crew I have to be all hands on deck or she would cut my hours or move me back to morning crew when they have normally 7-8 people working that shift while night crew has 5 people max and that if someone doesn’t call out. We get slammed with people in DT and cafe not adding mobile and Uber orders and yet she said we don’t get as busy and complains we don’t leave everything perfect for opening. It’s unfair because we do their jobs and leave prep for them.
GhosttMutt [OP] 8 points 2y ago
There's always like an inch of crust on all the bars when I clock in, it's like morning shift bolts as soon as they can but we have to stay hours late. Until openers have to get up two hours early to clean play three months in a row I don't wanna hear it 🙄
hhtptai 1 points 2y ago
I at least wipe off my bar and replace the milks and ice before night crew comes in.
GhosttMutt [OP] 2 points 2y ago
It doesn't take much 🥺 I hate coming into nothing on top of 40+ minutes of untouched mobile stickers
hhtptai 2 points 2y ago
With my current situation at my store, literally having to get rides to and from work, I can't stay for hours on end to make things easier for night crew. If I had my own transportation, I would stay that extra few minutes to get dishes done or even replace cups or little things like that to make sure it's a smooth as possible night for everyone. I'm sorry your situation was unfixable, hopefully you find somewhere that you're treated as a human being.

Hell Shift Supreme?
GhosttMutt [OP] 26 points 2y ago
Four person play, no prep or shift duties done by morning crew and we had a full lobby as well as cars wrapped around the building cutting off traffic. Shift asked to close the lobby and the sm said she didn't care if we were busy we're there to make money and hung up while the shift was crying at that point. Morning after they pulled her aside bc store wasn't clean enough 🙃
mmpotpie78 11 points 2y ago
.....the night crew deserves so much better. I’m glad y’all are getting out...oohhh I have some words but imma keep my mouth shut.
GhosttMutt [OP] 11 points 2y ago
thank you!!! Honestly I just wish more partners would take a stand for themselves too...don't worry tho partner resources gonna hear from all of us

As a morning crew person who stays an 30 mins-hour late every day and still can’t get the shit done, it’s not us. It’s our company refusing to help. I can’t keep going like this.

Night-shift-who-quit-last-week can confirm.

Same at my store! New manager has apparently been with the company for nearly 2 decades, has 3 kids, and yet doesn't know how to manage at all.

Worse yet, she's rude to everyone, and messed up my PTO that I needed, bc my fiancé was in a car accident and needed me to stay home to care for him. Now I'm short on rent. If it wasn't my future MIL I'm renting from, I'd be screwed. And I'm not the only person she's messed up PTO for. She also schedules people during school and other jobs, which they obviously have to call out for bc we don't have enough people to cover. One barista sat in the backroom to attend one of his nursing classes bc he was told he'd be fired if he didn't show up.

3 shifts and 5-7 baristas are transferring to the store opening up nearby, all at once, because of her. 3 others are transferring once they hit 6 months. Current store is gonna be left with 10 people, 7 just hired, and 3 shifts. Good luck!

Thank you! Hope everything goes well for you too, my new sm and dm both called me to check in today and things are looking better 💖💖
Montymania94 2 points 2y ago
Thank you!! It looks like I'll be free of this store after next week, and right before my bday, too!
asdfghjklugh 2 points 2y ago
I’m so sorry. Night shift has been rough lately too. I went from a relatively inexperienced night partner to being one of the main closers. I close 3-4 nights a week and they have been rough. Nothing is done when I get there.

Ask to condense the CSR cards, that’s what we did we have a single card front and back that has everything that needs to get done and we are working on a time line card as well to help organize it. It sounds silly but it works and I’ve found my team at night really works well with it.
