They're not being enforced much at my store probably because connecting with customers during a pandemic isn't safe

Kind of. My managers and shift supervisors are trying to get us to up our connection score (it’s been low recently). If I’m soloing DT I can sometimes get away with not having a conversation (because I’m taking an order) but I try. I feel bad sometimes because our conversations get interrupted. I’ve been told DT times aren’t as important as creating the customer connection. They’re only important if the times are really bad.

If I’m on drive window only we are told to interact with the customer (which I really don’t like bc no one wears their masks in the drive thru)

Sad to say our store has been getting some low customer connection scores despite our manager hammering us about it. I’m honestly at a loss. The last two weeks we have been striving for window times in the 30’s and low 40’s. We do pretty well at moving our lines along quickly. But I don’t get how you’re supposed to create a meaningful moment in 30 seconds with each car. When majority of that time of handling payment and making sure you’re giving out the right order. I feel like you have to pick one, you know? Am I going to create a connection or do I get this line pushed through? Most of my experience with Starbucks was with cafe stores, coming to a DT has been such an adjustment. I’m really struggling balancing being fast with creating ✨Magical moments✨
