Problematic Regular (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by FloydnFin8
So we have this man who comes through our drive-thru and our café as a regular. He seems to know the manager as he’s always asking to know if she’s in and knows her by first name. The problem is that every single time he talks to any of the female partners he refers to us as “baby”. Overall no one really feels comfortable with this. It’s a constant “ hey baby” “ thanks baby” and once in a while “baby cakes“. He tends to do it to certain girls more often. I personally hate having to be at the window with him and get called a “baby” all the time. My question is should I even bother bringing it up to my manager (she tends to not like customer confrontation) or should I just let him know next time that it really isn’t okay with the girls there?

Yeah, you don’t need to involve your manager, you’re allowed to tell a customer that you don’t find it appropriate. You’re also allowed to file incident reports without your manager’s permission if his reaction is anything but apologizing and stopping immediately.

I'd bring it up to him directly or get one of your shifts to if you arent comfortable :)
