Bless you and your good work.

Aw thank you <3. One of my coworkers is starting training soon so I figured I'd add to it to help green beans (or dark roasted beans like me that have the memory of a fish)

For the 2L VSC recipe you put add 350mL vanilla and then add 600mL vanilla and skipped 2%
I hope this doesn’t come off as obnoxious, just thought you should know! This is such an awesome idea and I’ll definitely be using it; I left the bux for about a year and I still need a little help sometimes since coming back :)

Question: shouldn’t you be counting the day you make it as day 1? That’s what we were taught.
Example: 5 days from today would be:
2/1-1
2/2-2
2/3- 3
2/4- 4
2/5 - 5
Instead of 2/6 being day 5?
Like pulling sammies and pastries? You count the day you pull/make it.

I just went by what starbucks documentation says. In the shelf life standards document, the only thing that counts today’s date is whole bean bags of coffee which are today’s date + 6. It also depends on the time of day you discard expired product. We do it at open at my store, so this is the date system we use.

I’m gonna have to look into this, cause now I think we’ve been dating a lot of things too early 🤔
We usually toss at EOD so I wonder if that’s why we count the day we make it as day 1.
But i wonder if it’s also confusing in the way it’s written, because a lot of people think sammies and pastries are 3 days based on the wording 🤦🏻♀️
Slightly_Caffeinated [OP]3 points2y ago
I’m actually gonna have to look into it too cause I’m just reading the document now and I think info about food items are in a separate doc. I’ll let you know!

If you pull the pastries/make the prep in the beginning of the day, you count today as day one. Midday pulls, today doesn’t count
asdfjklyss1 points2y ago
That’s not true, because you pull pastries during the evening and count the day you pull them as day 1 since they thaw in 3 hours and will technically be ready that same day. That I know for sure because I looked it up during a heated discussion about this before.
You should only be pulling sammies in the morning unless it’s an “emergency pull.”
i shared it in the store group chat and we use it every single shift, thank you so much!!!

Just a heads up, your thaw dates also need to be conscious of when they’ve started to count down. Manager serve safe certification recommends always counting on fingers, because for things like juices and dairy/non-dairy, you start as soon as the carton opens. So today is the first, 5 days for the SAR base starting today would 2/5. 7 days for coconut milk would be 2/7. However, when you have thaw times, you don’t start the perish time until they have finished thawing. So if you have bacon bites that take 18 hours to thaw, and you pull anytime before 6am, you would date them with today EOD (assuming most stores the latest they’ll stay open is 9pm) as the first day, donate on the 3rd. If you pull after 6am, you’ll use that time on the 4th.

uh, I think you’re mistaking me for a shift. I’m just a barista
Barist11 points2y ago
On shaken teas in the US there is LCS. It's the matcha that doesn't in the US.
Slightly_Caffeinated [OP]1 points2y ago
You might have also noticed that it’s written “full dose pump” rather than “espresso bar pump” and “half dose pump” instead of “cold bar pump”. This is part of a simplification to recipe cards that will also roll out on March 2.
Slightly_Caffeinated [OP]1 points2y ago
Sorry about the confusion! I might have put this a *touch* early but starting March 2, shaken iced teas will no longer get lcs. Starbucks has said that this is based on feedback they’ve collected from customers. The powder tea latte recipes are for Canada. Here, we have black and rooibos tea powder in addition to matcha and a blossoming rose tea latte
