Well this is how my life is going (self.starbucksbaristas)

So I got a new job a couple months ago and my availability changed. My store manager hasn’t scheduled me in weeks and I got a text from him Monday saying he was removing me from the system. I’m losing my health insurance, spotify premium, and because it hasn’t vested, I’m losing my partner stock.

Fun fact: Starbucks doesn’t offer severance packages and with the exception of the first wave of covid they never did.

I’m a little pissy about it. Ngl

Did you talk to him about your availability before you changed it or since he stopped scheduling you? If your availability no longer fits for the store needs then there’s not much he can do about it but he should have at least discussed it with you.

I talked to him the week I got my new job and over the course of the time since he stopped scheduling me. I regularly checked in with him to see if I’d been scheduled but all I got was radio silence until that text

What did your manager originally say when you changed your availability? Did they indicate it would be an issue moving forward? When you say “in weeks”, how many weeks are we talking? And how often were you in contact with your manager during these weeks?

Starbucks doesn’t offer severance packages, but depending on the circumstances, you may qualify for unemployment.

No they didn’t say it would be an issue and it’s been about 8-9 weeks. And I reached out as frequently as I could. Most times I’d never get a response
