A rant to "Those" partners(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by cancel94
Hey there fellow partner, do you find yourself ordering 3 different complex blended drinks in a store that isn't yours? Do you like to be extra rude and not tip after ordering 5 items (everything warned up of course)? Do you find yourself doing all this while a store is slammed? Here's what you can do!!! Go f*** yourself. Really lady?!?! We have this partner that is a regular (don't know where she works in my area but we are her go to store) she comes in often dressed in PJs with her boyfriend and gets both of them blended drinks and like 4 warmed up items, but she refused to tip... Like I get you are broke (shit, we are working for Starbucks, I get they under pay us) but you don't even try to make up for it with a pleasant attitude or at least a coin or two from your pocket. Like goddamn, help a fellow partner out! Edit (removed a word)

i have partners from other stores who come to my 24 hr store in the middle of the night with a group of friends, order 4-5 fraps with hella modifications or tik tok drinks and 4-5 food items and they’re always rude and impatient. it drives me insane

I don't get it, like dude you know what it's like on this side!! Can you at least just pretend to be nice?
lelaluv19 points2y ago
in my experience it’s always newer baristas, usually ones who think omg!! i love making custom drinks!!! if you have a problem get over it it’s fun it’s your job!! but like.... go to ur own damn store with that lol.
my store has a newer barista who comes through the drive thru before his shift to order custom drinks and we all give him shit for it but he still does it 🤦🏼♀️

Come inside if you want a custom drink, otherwise keep it pushing with your 4 shots on ice

I guarantee you they are disliked at their own store as well. No way a hard worker with solid work ethic who works on bar a lot would ever do that to someone else, especially with a poor attitude.
Definitely ask more questions, what store they work at, if they work there a lot, etc. You have every right to because for all you know they could be using someone else's partner number.
Call their store manager, it's not against the rules what they're doing technically, but just inform the store manager about this situation exactly as you described to us. You're not asking them to get banned or in trouble, just letting their store manager know about how they are conducting themselves at another store. We're part of the same company after all and this other barista is technically a coworker of yours.
Good luck 👍

Ask what store and inform their SM. Seriously, that is unacceptable. Both you and OP

Partners, or even former partners, are either the best or worst customers you'll ever have. 🤦🏼♀️
cancel94 [OP]7 points2y ago
Yeah, they are either jaded at the company and take it out on you, or jaded but understand you are in it together

When I worked at a drive thru, had a partner that would come through drive and order ten shots of espresso over ice during peak in the mornings almost every day

Please tie up my machines for the next 5mins, I love getting backed up /s

Why do you think they come to your store, they know they are the worst and would get banned at their own store. 😂
NervosaNervous4 points2y ago
My socially anxious self could never 🤣 I try to order very simple drinks (iced white mochas w/ nonfat & no whip, Irish cream cold brew, etc.) If I’m feeling adventurous, I wait till I’m working and make my own drink. And I always go to my own store.

There was a chick that worked at my store for a few months and now when she comes in occasionally to order she thinks she’s hot shit and orders things that I wish I could refuse to make. She wanted a dragon drink shaken with the berries but then the berries drained out
golden_pinky3 points2y ago
That's some next level brat shit.

I frowned hard at this. HARD. Yucky person that one..

I've always wondered how you know the tip when it is from the app? You have a couple hours to apply the tip so when do you know?
reb6783 points2y ago
Don't take this behavior. I'm sure it says something in something we signed already, but seriously, ask them what store they work for, and inform their SM about that person's behavior in another store. We wouldn't accept any of our home store partners acting that way, right?
frenchfrygirll9 points2y ago
Ordering a complicated order and not tipping, while annoying, isn't wrong. Why would you try to get a partner in trouble for that?
reb6783 points2y ago
Being Rude. That is why.
cancel94 [OP]5 points2y ago
She hasn't done anything against the rules....I just thought as a partner she would.....get it...you know?
reb6783 points2y ago
You said she was rude. Don’t Accept that.
cancel94 [OP]3 points2y ago
Fair enough, I'm trying to get better at that. Thank you tho for caring. I appreciate it

Is it annoying? Sure. Is it anymore annoying than customers ordering a bunch of custom drinks? No. We've always followed a "if they aren't clocked in we treat them as any other customer" rule which includes making special drinks, remaking something if it's wrong, etc. And as far as waiting till you're working so you can make your annoying drink, some stores don't allow that, some you have to be out from behind the bar before you can order. I don't think working somewhere should make it so you can't experiment with the menu because you know it's annoying to make, it's part of the job to make annoying drinks no matter who they're for.
golden_pinky2 points2y ago
I don't mind if people get a lot of drinks when we're busy. It's the way they do it. Like I have one partner who always comes for an insanely annoying drunk, but she is nice and chill. I don't really expect partners to tip, honestly.
YellowSphinx2 points2y ago
I used to work at a licensed Starbucks. And oftentimes we would get people coming in claiming to be partners so they didn’t have to pay for anything. So I would have to phone a friend to the real Starbucks down the street for verification. they were displeased. Though I’m almost sure they were lying to me 🤷♀️
marcummies2 points2y ago
they still have to pay don’t let them do that lmao
esidra8082 points2y ago
Same!!!! like no wonder u dont go to ur own store bc everyone prob hates you lol
rio8envy71 points2y ago
I now feel really guilty for not tipping this morning when I placed an order for my caramel macchiato. Like I was running late and was desperate. Like I meant to on the app but once I got there I had a sit down with my boss then we got slammed. I’ll put something in when I pick up tips.
