I stood up to a certain regular of my store who has always been rude and condescending. Everytime she came in she would harass baristas for the slightest mistake with her drink and get even more upset when we would offer to remake it. She would spout some nonsense about how she was a regular customer spending money at our store and how we needed to get our act together, and how every other starbucks seemed to be able to make her drink right. I've also had numerous encounters with having to remind her of the many signs requiring a mask indoors and to not sit in our cafe. The last time she came in the barista who handled her transaction was the least confrontational and most kind hearted person I know, and our wonderful regular tried to complain to me (the shift) that my barista had harassed her and verbally assaulted her (right after verbally assaulting my barista on window for trying to charge her a whole $1 for a cup of sweet cream). That was where I drew the line, she was now trying to personally attack my baristas and their character, it very quickly escalated into an argument back and forth between us, me vehemently defending my baristas from this spiteful woman until she finally yells, "Give me a refund, im never coming back!" Which I gladly respond with "OK, here's your money, go to one of the many other Starbucks that make your drink right." Oh right, cant forget the threat to call my SM and DM as she sped off. Luckily they both had my back in this situation as this wasn't our first incident with her, and im so very grateful to have had the support I did, tbh I honestly expected to get into some kind of trouble for fighting with a customer for five minutes straight in the drive thru. All in all, im glad I did it and don't regret anything because we're people too, and I won't stand for anyone who can't even be bothered to treat my coworkers and I with just a bit of human decency.
Sorry for the rant this ended up coming out way more than I though it would. I kinda just needed to vent and put all this out there. It still feels kind of surreal honestly because I've never stood up to anyone like that before. Anyways, if you read this all the way through thanks for taking the time to read my shitty rant about a shitty experience, cheers 💜
