This is too painfully obvious that it was fake
Scottbaker68 8 points 2y ago
I would’ve hung up after I was told two of my other partners were going to be arrested lol.
NotyourangeLbabe 5 points 2y ago
I agree...
NotyourangeLbabe 10 points 2y ago
I dunno man... I feel like it took you a little too long to catch on to the fact that something fishy was happening. And I kind of understand why they get the need to fire you or at least demote you. If you could fall for this, with that much money, it might not make you the best person to be in charge of money. Take this as a learning opportunity. If a situation seems sketchy, it probably is. Always check with your manager or DM. I’m sorry this was so traumatizing for you. I do hope you find a better job and soon. Good luck moving into your first apartment!

I literally wouldn’t have believed it if they hadn’t hacked my phone and put a fake contact in for my DM, when he called I took that as confirmation from my DM yanno I had no reason to believe it wasn’t him calling bc it said his name
NotyourangeLbabe 5 points 2y ago
Yea I get that. But I still think you should have actually confirmed with your DM. Like answered the call. Do you have an iPhone? I’ve gotten calls from numbers I do not have stored and their names still show up on my screen. It doesn’t mean their contact is in my phone, that’s just technology these days.

Ya I definitely felt stupid as fuck after it happened but the fake contact for him is still in my phone as a contact idk how it got there
NotyourangeLbabe 10 points 2y ago
So I went back a read it again and you left (for hours) without saying anything to anyone? Unfortunately, and I really don’t say this to be mean, I’m going to have to agree with their decision to terminate your employment. We all have situations where we are a little too gullible, and this was yours. Everything about this was handled wrong. But maybe this was the universes way of getting you out of Starbucks? In a few years, this will be something you’ll probably look back on and laugh at.

Also, sorry if I missed the part in the story where another SSV came in, but did you leave the store to drive around for hours without leaving another SSV in charge?
FelicityCecilia -2 points 2y ago
Dont blame the victim.
NotyourangeLbabe 3 points 2y ago
There is blame to be placed here for her reckless actions though? If you’re going to be apart of your stores management team, you need to be able to see these kind of situations for what they are. And she dramatically dropped the ball here. SM’s and DM’s need to trust their SSV’s are capable of critical thinking since they are in a leadership position. And while I’m not saying OP is not capable of critical thinking, not much critical thinking was apparent here. Like I said, OP should view this as a learning experience and in the future always reach out to their managers when faced with sketchy situations like these.

She did reach out to her DM though... or so she had been tricked.
NotyourangeLbabe 1 points 2y ago
She didn’t reach out. She was made to believe her DM was calling her, but she didn’t answer the phone to confirm. Listen, this is an unfortunate situation that has happened to many people before. But unfortunately she did make multiple mistakes here and this could have been avoided. Her termination isn’t surprising and could be very easily argued that it was deserved. She wasn’t liking the job anyways so let’s just cal it a blessing in disguise

I had something very similar happen to me at a job. It sounded so outlandish I knew it was fake right off the bat and told the person they were dumb, hung up and met with my boss over it. Upper management filed a report and I had to report it to HR. . I’m sorry.

Also I know you are upset but this has nothing to do with the store. I can understand why they let you go. Again. I’m sorry.
nightkat89 3 points 2y ago
You should not be a shift if you fell for this. The fact I read halfway through this just to get to “this is where it seemed suspicious” makes me literally lose all faith.
Pissbabiek8 2 points 2y ago
Also my boss told me when they filed the police report they said five other places in my city had the same thing happen to them and all were successful. I’m not the only one. But here I am getting fired. Not Starbucks tho but we’ve had three other unsuccessful ones.

TLDR
nightkat89 7 points 2y ago
Person was too dense to realize they were part of a multi level scam. Literally was persuaded to get petty cash out of the safe, go to a local shop, purchase disposable money cards, give the codes over the phone, destroy the cards, and is blaming Starbucks for terminating them.
