Venti Rant, aka why am I lying in bed, crying about this job (self.starbucksbaristas)

SSV here. I honestly don’t know what to do. As title says, it was a really rough day today. Honestly, the last few weeks have been awful. Sales are up, but staffing is down, and there’s only so many people telling me that I’m ruining their day/telling me I’m incompetent I can take. Scheduling is absolute trash, with no consistency and it feels like no planning going into it at all before being posted. In no way is our store environment hostile (thank god, love my fellow SSVs and most of my baristas) but the CUSTOMERS. Even my fave regulars are horrified when they see how we are treated. Our CC scores are up, higher than they’ve ever been while I’ve been working there, but still we are told it’s not good enough. Online reviews complain that our beverages taste like water/things took too long to get ready/etc... I just don’t even know anymore. My fellow staff has kind of just given up it feels and I’m worried things are going to start slipping by the wayside. I know I shouldn’t even care, as I’m just a cog in the machine/don’t matter to the company, but I want to be proud of my work. I like working with others. Why is this job ruining that for me?

just quit the company for this EXACT reason... you are not alone. do whatever is going to make you happy. i felt the company was making me an angry person, couldn’t do it anymore

It’s a revolving door, so corporate will make it seem good for employees on paper(I.e. the pandemic raise we all got for the first month then it left and the pandemic is still here or the 10 percent raise so I make an extra 91 cents.) while they’ve made 27 billion profit in 2020. Starbucks doesn’t give a shit about anyone

The pandemic literally ruined everything. I used to like coming to work, looked forward to seeing my friends, and now half of them have quit and everything is different. 😢

This sounds weird but I’m not a barista or partner I just love learning about new things- where is the best place I can leave nice reviews for you guys? Would I have to have purchased at the store and gotten a code at the bottom of a receipt? Is there a URL you can send me so I write something nice so your managers see? Customers can be so shitty- I’m going to start asking how busy a store is and base what drink I want off that when ordering!

That’s so nice of you! Our store personally gets ripped to shreds on Yelp for some reason? But honestly the best way to help corporation-wide would be by being a Starbucks app member: Starbucks sends surveys to members who visit our stores, and they rate us on our service. The only scores that count are 100% ones, so please take that into consideration. If you post nice reviews online (Google, Yelp, etc) there’s a chance baristas might see it, but otherwise the aforementioned surveys are your best bet. That, or just tell your baristas when you go in! You can call the store and ask for a manger if you would like, and compliment the team. That’s always a pleasant surprise! Otherwise, just keep being a kind customer, and all of us will appreciate you ❤️
