there’s this one barista who used to always talk trash about starbucks on tik tok and took videos of herself around the store (and ON THE FLOOR) without a mask on... well the DM and corporate got involved and we all had to take a training course about internet etiquette. please... not worth it

The 'ask me' button is how we survive. Say they want the strawberry puree in the foam. We hit the ask me and do i/f. Same for a milk on the side of an iced coffee or something. For that we type in o/s. Makes it easier, but I totally agree with you.

I think my store manager likes tik tok drinks because they’re all so crazy expensive and drive up our average numbers but everyone else is tired of them.

I’m used to the white mocha now but they’re still adding foam to new things and it annoys me.

We have a huge overstock on heavy cream. I have been offering vsc on anything iced and pushing my baristas to do the same. It helps increase numbers which means more hours for baristas who need it.

Interesting. We run out of heavy cream pretty often, to the point it’s not uncommon to have unmade whips at close because there’s no heavy cream left to make whips with. Funny how different stocking and demand is store to store

Yeah the upcharges on the foam and stuff make it worth it IMO. Oh you want strawberry foam on your beverage? Cool, 20 seconds and we get an extra $2 for that single beverage.

and they all pull the “but it’s your JOB😡” bullshit like, it is. i won’t tell a customer we can’t make the drink but i definitely won’t make it with a smile on my face. a lot of these tiktok baristas are also from licensed stores and get away with more. as a corporate partner i’ve seen them do things that i know wouldn’t fly at my store (for example, the tiktok i saw with like 10 cake pops in a trap. people couldn’t comprehend it when i said it’s against policy)

they also pull the “omg and it’s SO fun to make!!! hehe 🥰💕🥺” like yeah when we’re slow, not when there’s 3748827482737 people staring at me and i have 16 different orders back to back with different cold foam flavors dude. keep it at your store, not the internet ❤️

I really wanna know what world these other baristas live in where they’re like “idc about all the tik tok drinks! I love trying new things and they’re fun” like Breh what’re you on front the entire peak it’s not fun. There’s also like a new brand of like “pick me barista” I guess where all they want is customer validation so they’re all “it’s our job” n shit. It’s infuriating like we are all being punished by the same god might as well be on our team

exactly!!! i hate even ringing them in when i’m on front or dto because bar is already gettimg slammed and a 6 drink order of nothing but tiktok drinks is the last thing they need. making them absolutely can be fun and i enjoy making them when we aren’t slammed (so like, approximately 2-230pm on a wednesday if we’re lucky) but not on peak and surely not 5 at a time

I honestly hate those kind of barista. I took this job because I wanted to make coffee, not make some teenage girl's sugar crash waiting to happen. Sure, I expected to make a lot of fraps, but these tik tok drinks from hell are honestly ruining the job to the point that I'm looking for a local cafe to hire me that doesn't do this crazy bs.
