I’ve been making cold brew drinks wrong this entire time (self.starbucksbaristas)

Okay y’all so ive been at starbucks for almost 3 months, so an older green bean but I feel so embarrassed/stupid!!!! So my SM had me mark out her drink and she got a cold brew with no water. I was like??? I didn’t say anything but I was questioning myself wether cold brew gets water or not. After some googling, i found out that cold brew is supposed to get water!!! I don’t remember learning that at any part of my training and nobody has said anything to me while making it. I was too afraid to ask someone if cold brew got water or not because they’d know i’ve been making it wrong for 3 whole months!!!!!! question though, do all cold brews get water? (irish cream cb, vanilla sc bc, etc)

Hey, I don’t think you’ve been getting it wrong, your SM probably wanted the concentrate, and if we have tun out of kegs, yes we have to add water to cut the concentrate. If you’ve just been making cold brews by pouring it from the tap, it’s already cut with water, so you’ve been doin it right!

okay thank god I was seriously questioning everything for like 2 days when she ordered it with no water and then I watched a youtube video and the guy added water to it so I was mad confused. thank you for this knowledge lmao

No problem lmao, I did this all the time when I first started out, if you’ve been doing something wrong, no ones going to get mad at you, the worst that’s gonna happen is they’re gonna be like “hey this is how we actually do this” and then you’ll know! Don’t worry too much about getting things wrong, we’re all human lol

Yup, if it’s straight out of a pitcher it gets water. If it’s on a tap from a keg (like nitro) it doesn’t. It’s cold brew to the bottom line and water to the top line

Okay so if it’s from the kegs the cold brew doesn’t get water added to it? I think I may be fine then bc ours is always from the tap 😂

Cold brew only gets water if you’re not using the kegs. At my old store we didn’t have taps just 2L pitchers so we filled the pitchers with cold brew and cut it with water whoever someone ordered something.

i didn’t learn about making cold brew in my training. a month later my shift/trainer asked me to make some and was shocked i didn’t learn

yeah I didn’t learn that in my training either and I still haven’t been asked to or had to make any cold brew kegs
