I need help- CUP fund says not likely (self.starbucksbaristas)

Hi everybody. This one is kind of a personal one but I just need help and I don’t know what to do. Hopefully this is okay.

A year ago, I was raped by someone I trusted. I didn’t know what to do so I just kept it in. Now, I’ve moved to another state, but I’ve started experiencing a lot of anxiety and have been struggling with ptsd. I’ve recently decided to report. To do that I need to go back to Colorado to deal with it. But I don’t have enough money to be able to take off that much time without pay (in my state you have to quarantine for 2 weeks before returning to work.) I’ve tried the CUP fund, but they say they can’t help unless I can prove that that the rent is past due. I need to do this for myself and to protect others, but I don’t know what other options I have. I feel trapped and desperate and I have no idea what to do. Does anybody have any advice? Thank you so much in advance, I appreciate any advice!

hey there! i can't offer much advice at all sadly bc i'm not familiar with cup fund at all but idk if this is a dumb question but idk if using your sick hours may be an option or even find a way to use the covid pay. i'm sorry that i'm not that helpful but i do also wanna say that i hope you find peace with processing what happened and that i am very proud that you are taking the steps to report. working thru how you are impacted is a scary process but it's progress that u deserve. i wish u all the best

Thank you so so much 🤍 I will ask! I’m not sure about what steps they have to take but you may have a point since it’s like emotional health? Idk but thank you! The support makes me feel like I’m not alone. Thank you 🤍

aH yes i didn't know how to imply it and it might be too late given it'd be suspicious timing but fuck if u gotta be like omg i was around someone who tested positive!! in my experience they can't let u work for 10 days so do with that what you will. sincerely you aren't alone and feel free to update with whatever happens with this all!!

Not advice: just deeply proud of you for reporting ❤️❤️❤️ it's hard and scary and I'm rooting for you all the way in california! I've also been assaulted, and since reporting is so discouraged in the US it's a really scary process.

Maybe you can take a leave of absence? Unfortunately I don’t know how to help with the financial piece of it as I don’t know much about the cup fund.
