I argue black coffee has significantly more flavor (and less bitterness) than espresso shots and boiling hot water. Espresso shots are really just beans ground so finely and with so much pressure that they’re insanely bitter. Imagine puréeing a coffee bean and then drinking it...that’s an espresso shot. Then imagine adding boiling water to that and you’ve got glorified dirt water.

I don’t think black coffee tastes great, but it definitely tastes like a real drink of some kind...espresso shots with hot water (an Americano) is just bitter bean water lol.
