Non-service dogs aren’t allowed in cafe.

Yes, buuuut I’m the SM so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My district is grab and go only, and I’m not allowed to ask people for proof that it’s a service animal in this state.
He is a pet of a customer and isn’t bothering anyone in my empty cafe. Meeting this wrinkly little guy brightened my partners day and made for a lovely customer connection. It’s freezing outside so honestly I’d be annoyed if she left him out there!

Okay so here’s the thing. I certainly don’t get paid enough to police people. I’m not about to interrogate a customer that’s not causing problems for anyone. The customer wore a mask and didn’t pose any issue to the COMPLETELY EMPTY cafe.

I’ve had to get upper management involved to issue a trespass against a regular that brought in his service animal in the past (complete with a vest, to ease your concern), let her shit on the cafe floor daily, and did nothing when she barked at other customers- once directly in a small child’s face. THAT was an issue. When the child’s parent reprimanded the dude, he responded with threats of violence and a lawsuit. THAT is endangering people. That situation would cause issues for someone relying on an actual service animal.

The dog in this photo was perfectly behaved, didn’t shit on my floor, and sat next to his owner while she waited 3 minutes for her drink. Any and all risk was entirely eliminated when I washed my hands after petting him and returned to my admin work.

I completely understand your very valid points but good lord, go pee in someone else’s Cheerios.

Sounds like that dog was either a fake service dog or the worst service dog ever. A disruptive dog like that essentially forfeits legal protections anyway because you are absolutely allowed to refuse to accommodate a service dog that is disruptive.

Lmao could not imagine being this annoying. It's a dog that's in there for 2 seconds. If he distracts your service dog get better training. And anyways, they could easily lie and say it's a service dog.
Skvvppie -2 points 2y ago
Sorry- my SD has been attacked 2 times because managers don’t care about policies in place. My dog is extremely well trained, but when another dog latches into her scruff she’s gunna miss my heart fluctuations. So yeah- i’ll “be annoying”.

Lieing sucks but what sucks more is managers who don’t give a shit.

it def could be a service dog though. they don’t have to wear the vests to be considered a service dog 🙂
Skvvppie 3 points 2y ago
I have a service dog, I know they don’t have to be wearing a vest. But by the looks of that dog it’s around 5 months max and a pet.
