Covid LOA? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Sweetness414
Remember last summer when Covid cases and deaths were lower than they are now and Starbucks let us stay home to stay safe and paid us? Are they doing that again this spring? I’ve heard rumblings.

Starbucks will never do that again. There are rules and regulations in place and so many studies now, they only did that because there was so much uncertainty with the beginning of the virus and so much unknown. They won’t push out all that money to pay people to sit on their bums again if there are things they can do to stay open. They paid us CAT pay because they received so much backlash and other companies were doing service pay as well

According to our most recent weekly update for third quarter they are continuing the paid leave for employees who get sick or are exposed. But not the optional LOA that was offered during the summer. From my sit down with the SM , it didn't even sound like a good offered compared to the LOA offered in spring 2020. He said they could call you back at anytime if they needed staff...

Thanks for the replies! I couldn’t access the weekly update when I last logged on.

So this means we only get a paid leave if we have Covid or had close contact with someone who has Covid?

Sorry didn't see your reply. Our store gives LOA if you have a exposure to someone who tests positive, if a coworker has symptoms and you worked with them, and if you live with someone who has it or has symptoms. Basically we have to talk with our SM if we even think we have symptoms or someone does... its all so nuanced so basically its case by case basis right now
