is there a way to get reimbursed for the time i couldn’t work due to short term disability? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by jupiterblues-
i broke my ankle last july and ended up not being able to work for 3 months. i just learned that starbucks has a short term disability coverage which my manager never told me about. would it be possible for me to show proof of my hospital bills showing i was unable to work due to a medical injury and get paid the money i should’ve received? if so, how can i go about this?

it’s not a huge deal to me if it’s not possible but i’m just irked that i could’ve at least gotten some compensation rather than have had to dip into my college savings to pay for my bills :/

I would call PRC and see if there’s a possibility you can still file a claim with Sedgwick. My gut tells me no, that this far out retroactively won’t be possible, but you never know.

And fwiw, you would be entitled, maybe, to a percentage of your pay, like 30 or 60%, I think, if you qualified. I’m pretty sure you have to have at least a year of service to qualify. I’m not sure about whether you have to work a certain number of hours.
