Be on top of your separation date (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by julieCivil
Hello to any former partners/potentially former partners,

I texted my SM asking to be separated on 1/27. When I called corporate that Friday (1/29) to get my pay stub emailed to me (they lock you out of all systems immediately), I asked corporate what my separation date was and they said 1/24. Which shorts me out of 2-3 days pay. I texted my manager she said she would fix it, I called corporate a week later, it was changed to 1/25, I texted my manager and she said some vague bs about pay weeks ending on the 24th and that was why my separation date was incorrect.

I called corporate back, they gave me my dm's email, so I emailed her and she said the same vague statement about pay weeks and that I must be confused. Okay, maybe so. Then I had to call corporate back again today because I needed today's pay stub (I have to figure out if the money I had set aside for the SIP program and other benefits were being refunded to me) and I asked corporate about my separation date. STILL 1/24.

I asked corporate if this has to do with pay weeks and ending a pay cycle? They said, "No, your separation date is the day you were separated".

So, has anybody else had this experience? I am hella frustrated and think my SM is screwing me out of a few day's pay. And the reason I think she is doing this is because I was out on COVID leave until 1/28 and she had told me I needed to be covering shifts or come into work on the 28th and I said, I was mentally and physically unable to do admin tasks like texting 17 partners and confirming shift coverage. I WAS SICK, IT IS CALLED COVID-19, WE ARE IN A PANDEMIC. And she kept hassling me so I said, "fine, please just separate me" on 1/27. And she is being a bitch by not giving me my full covid pay which is unethical and just totally illuminates what a shit company I was working for.

Anyone have similar stories?? Also, double check your separation date!

Do you have the texts dated from the date you told her to separate you? Simply submit them to corporate

Yes I have the entire paper trail

Corporate says the change must come from SM. I’ve just emailed our partner resource manager. We will see

Call PCC as well. I might even give Business Ethics a call if I were you - this is a lawsuit in the making and other companies have been hit pretty hard by shit like this

Thank you. I just think it is so shitty

Unfortunately there are A LOT of terrible managers in this company, DMs included.

oh absolutely!

I would also recommend that people keep an eye on their *actual* hours worked, and the hours marked on their paystub, especially if they've ever written in their punches in the logbook. Some SMs like to uh... trim the time a bit. Not to mention I think SMs do payroll in general, so I would watch your paystubs just to make sure they're handling everything properly anyways!
