I was closing last night. There were no cars in the DT so I was sweeping and when I turn around there’s this man staring at me through the DT window. I was scared shitless 😩 I actually started hyperventilating and my partner almost didn’t believe me when I said there was a man at the window. luckily it was closed cause sometimes I keep it open for fresh air. anyway, I’ve never experienced anything as scary as that was. drop down your creepy customer stories
edit: the man was not in a car. he was just standing there.

just as a precaution, never ever ever EVER leave the window open after close. I know fresh air is nice but it's not worth your safety. all it takes is one person to create an extremely dangerous situation. ( the person at the window, i mean ) what would stop someone from just climbing in while no one is watching? especially since starbucks mainly has all female employees.

unfortunately we weren’t closed yet. It was just slow and I got a headstart on cleaning, but yeah usually it’s closed if there are absolutely no cars. if there’s cars coming through I keep it open for the most part.

Oh ok my bad! It was a dude standing there, not in a car?

yeah I should’ve been more clear. he was a homeless man just standing there with his face against the window 🥲

Ah man those situations suck, I always feel hella guilty when we have to turn them away.

We had a guy come up and open our Drive Thru window once when we were slow. He grabbed for our tip jar but I yanked it back and told him to back the hell up or I’d call the cops. He took off thankfully. There was a car in drive that hadn’t pulled up yet that saw the whole thing happen and asked if we were okay.

omg what that’s scary! we keep our tip jar inside now because people steal tips while driving by

We have a high poverty rate in our state unfortunately.

Cafe was closed due to understaffing issues and it was just after dark. I’m on dto and window and this was the first car we had for a second so the window had been closed. Mid way taking this guys order I go to open the window, with my headset on. As I open the window I realize there was this old man staring at me outside the window because he wanted his order taken because our cafe was closed. I scream my head off, probably making the guy who’s order I was taking go deaf, same with my coworkers while freaking them out as to what was wrong. Both customers ended up being very understanding luckily.

omg what did he look like? how close to the window was he? i’m an opener so its usually a bit light outside when i get into the work, so i’ve never experienced anything like that 😩

he was kind of short and a bit dirty. I think he was homeless but I don’t open the window for people walking in the DT lane. I tell them to come inside. I actually never close, but my SM has been having me close almost every thursday 🙃 but even during the day I’ve had people walking in the lane
