I hear you. I realize it is super irritating. She is super excited about the new position and is handling it in the not kindest way to others. What can you do to make the situation better for yourself?

Some people want to make a career out of Starbucks, some people don’t. Both is fine, however I *never* got along with the career Starbucks people. Like... it’s a minimum wage job, please stop trying so hard to make me care.

exactly. my SM has been with starbucks for 17 years, and a few partners have been with starbucks for 5-7 years. i’ve only been with them since august and i can already tell you i don’t want to make a career out of it. it’s a great part-time job imo, but i don’t see it paying my bills ever

As someone who is in that process, I completely agree. I have trouble coaching and the thing that is holding me back from promoting according to my SM is my coaching. But I don’t want to be that person who irritates everyone during peak by saying things that they could be doing better. I know that girl in your situation is micromanaging instead of coaching but I feel like I would come off like that and don’t coach as much as they would like. It’s kind of discouraged me from developing as to I hear all my fellow baristas say how they always get talked down to by shifts and SM

Sucks you have to deal with the unneeded stress while working a job. Micromanaging is the WORST experience at any job. If others are seeing this or sharing the same experience with her, you have a right to air your grievances. NO ONE should feel bummed walking in the door every day for work because you are scheduled to work with a certain someone. Vent in a healthy manner.

Coaching should also include positive reinforcement. In fact, a lot of management courses recommend 3 positive statements for every negative statement.

Yup ik exactly what you mean, that sucks though. I usually ignore it but it sounds like you got it way worst.

Trust me, they're irritating for actual shift supervisors, too, because they're constantly stepping on our toes.
