Days like today make me hate working at Starbucks. I use to LOVE my job. Before Covid my team use to do outings have fun, and it was an overall wonderful place to work. When Covid all the crap started. Today made me miss the old days. This is a ridiculous story about how a “lovely” conversation went with a customer today...
guy came in without a mask. Here is how this conversation went:
“Sir. Do you have a facial covering”
“Do you have one for me?”
“Sure. here you go” *hands mask*
*mask isn’t even on*
“caramel macchiato”
*still not wearing a mask*
“Sir if you wouldn’t mind putting the mask on”
“Caramel Macchiato”
“What size?”
He continues to order 3 more drinks and I had to tell him 2 more times during the transaction to keep his mask up. He informs me he has allergies. To which I reply, “I understand, but as long as you are in the store I’m gonna have to ask you to keep the mask up.” He rolls his eyes and puts the mask up. Then he grabs one of the cups and ask for the price I turn the cup over to see the price and tell him. He tells me he wants a drink made in it. To which I then tell him I can’t make the drink in the cup because of Covid, but we can make the drink and he can put it in there himself. Yet another eye roll comes, and ask to scan the cup. I scan it and tell him the price with tax. I ask him if we could like the cup. He says, “no because you won’t put my drink in there.”
Ok cool whatever. I direct him to the handoff plane where his drinks will be. I ask him YET AGAIN to keep his mask on while he is waiting for his drinks. Then one of my baristas tells him again (this time in Spanish) to keep his mask on and that we have told him now 3 times to keep his mask on. He says again he has allergies. The barista tells him that if he wants he can go wait outside (mind you it is cold and dark outside) if he doesn’t want to wear the mask. When he gets his drinks he continues to take the mask off. Then to top off the night, he asked for more sugar for his Pike, I hand it to him, he goes to the condiment bar (all without wearing his mask AGAIN) and proceeds to SNEEZE ALL OVER THE CONDIMENT BAR!!! HE WASN’T EVEN COVERING HIS MOUTH!! I quickly got that area sanitized and at that point I was DONE! The amount of times I’ve been yelled out and treated as trash because people can’t understand that there is currently a pandemic happening and mask still need to worn! Trust me I hate wearing a mask just as much as the next person, but at least! Have the common sense to COVER YOUR MOUTH WHEN YOU SNEEZE!!

Tl;dr: Customer reluctantly put a mask on after coming into the store without one and SNEEZED on our condiment bar without a mask and without COVERING THEIR MOUTH!! I’m done!!
