so the Starbucks norm is hiring excessive staff and only giving them 20 hrs each, that’s their business model, i guess?

Pretty much. Even when getting full time hours you aren’t guaranteed 40 hours a week unless your store is completely short staffed.

But don’t feel discouraged you can always ask your SM to give you more hours and if they still can’t provide the hours you need. You can always call other Starbucks stores nearby to see if they need coverage and pick up shifts there

I don’t know about your market but in mine this hasn’t been allowed since Covid hit. In fact we can’t even work a block outside our own without 48 hours of being off before and after so as to not “cross contaminate”.
It’s kind of dumb though - half the store all hangs out together outside of work, anyway.

We’re also on block scheduling but you’re able to still cover other stores. You just can’t work both of their blocks (if they’re on block scheduling) w/o that 48 hour window like you mentioned.

Yeah my hours went from 25ish to less than 15 this upcoming week because my manager hired 3x the people they said they would...

Not at my store. We try to have as many 40 hr/week people as possible but it’s whatever at this point. I only work 20 because I work another 40hr/week job
