If 👏🏻 it 👏🏻 doesn’t 👏🏻 make👏🏻our👏🏻job👏🏻easier👏🏻don’t👏🏻fucking👏🏻share👏🏻it👏🏻.

Maybe you have more free time at your store, but this is not the case for most starbucks as they are FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS that tend to be busy a majority of the time.

STOP sharing these little fucking things that customers think are totally fine to order!

Not to mention when is starbucks going to start double charging for drinks with no ice? I’m fucking tired of running out of product to fuel peoples juice box addictions.

never understood how people had time to make all these tik tok videos and such. my store has someone parked in drive 10 minutes before we open and it doesn’t stop until close
yukhentai 37 points 2y ago
i think they are usually target/grocery store bux that have the time to make videos. the iced white mocha girl is a tarbux barista
bigbadbuns 7 points 2y ago
They must be in a quieter market because I'm a target barista and we definitely don't have time fot this kinda stuff either, which of course the customers don't understand
yukhentai 9 points 2y ago
i dont mean to discount that busy licensed storss exist ofc i just mean in general most of them are probably less busy then their nearby corporate counterparts. for example theres one in my local stop and shop and they’re always dead and look so bored so i could see how they could have the urge to hop on social media
gabbysafari 34 points 2y ago
the no ice thing doesn’t bother me except when they have the nerve to complain that it’s not cold. like did you seriously think some hot espresso and barely cold milk are gonna make an ice-cold drink?!?!
billybobw1 22 points 2y ago
I worked at the Bux for 2 years, didn’t really get mad when people said no ice? I mean, they’re already paying a dumb price for relatively low quality drinks, and if anything, the corporation is getting screwed, which is something I think we can all get behind. Not to mention, I used to love dumping almost an entire box of acai into a trenta, it was satisfyingly simple.
veryoriginal78 11 points 2y ago
I somewhat agree, but it is kind of a pain to have to run to the back to grab more product every 20 minutes because people keep driving through and ordering 3 Trenta strawberry açaí refreshers with no inclusions, no water, and no ice. Running to the back to restock the fridge only takes 1-2 minutes, but little minutes here and there add up and make it really easy to fall behind.

That’s not how you’re supposed to make no ice drinks! I agree that’s TOTALLY easier. But I work at a store where the store manager would come over and embarrass you in front of customers and make you go do barista basics again for not following routine like that. We have to shake all no ice drinks, which creates a weird suction in the shakers because of pressure which just makes a mess and I hate when it’s not clean.
Flappadingo 21 points 2y ago
They will never charge for no ice bc they were sued over it. Now customers get what they want how they want.

and you poor lowly underpaid paid barista get the brunt of it.
stevebuckyy 5 points 2y ago
they were sued? what happened?
yukhentai 16 points 2y ago
there was a class action suit bc customers belived they were getting ripped off since having ice in the drinks means they get less drink. as in 12oz of drink in a grande instead of a full 16. the lawsuit was thrown out but was a headache for sbux. there was also a lawsuit over latte’s being a rip off bc they contain foam...
stevebuckyy 17 points 2y ago
imagine suing because you think you're getting too much ice,,,,, the entitlement. that's wild
yukhentai 6 points 2y ago
yeah its truly a state of mind that i have never been in. and what i dont get is like people are eager to say we’re scamming them by just doing our job and making their drink cold and yet i dont think anyone would accuse mcdonalds of the same for putting ice in a coke.
Flappadingo 2 points 2y ago
Starbucks won but since then it has been Corp policy to add light or no ice at the same price

stevebuckyy 1 points 2y ago
wow, that's absolutely wild
rio8envy7 14 points 2y ago
I think there should be an upcharge for extra caramel drizzle, no ice and a fee for when someone says can I do 4 separate orders. Or at least a limit.
mrsnataliehooper 6 points 2y ago
I mean if people really want the most bang for their buck, literally just get your drink in a size up cup or light ice. If you really think youre getting scammed, get your tall latte in a grande cup so you get your full 12 oz plus ice. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Dude, just leave the sub. Clearly people use this as a means to vent, share ideas, and generally enrich their experiences as a barista. Don't be a Karen; if you don't like this then leave. Don't try and police a 32.9K member group to be how you want it to be.

The same shit I said to the other person applies to your comment... lol -> It’s actually not a bad attitude. I did enjoy my job and do the best of my ability to make it an enjoyable experience for everyone else who works there and who visits as a customer. But it stopped being fun was as we were being watched like a hawk to do everything by the book despite these standards. Play’s need to be followed, and every routine need to be followed, to a T, and we are quizzed on the routines throughout the day. And this isn’t just coming from my store manager it’s a weekly basis from my DM. How is that enjoyable? Imagine doing your job while being ridiculed every time you sprint into the back room to grab something to support your partners? So I’m expected to tightly follow this routine with absolutely no wiggle room, AND match the ridiculous requests. Having a lobby full of people being extremely rude to me as to why I haven’t finished their drinks in less than 5 minutes, while they chime in together and insult the fact that we are understaffed and wasting their time. I come in everyday trying to just make it an easier day for at least one other person, and I am constantly getting shit on by customers, and my management. So yes. Yes I am going to complain about the drinks that take literal minutes extra to make, when my store gets over 100 customers per hour, and the average check is here is 37.00. This is an extremely high volume store and they refuse to transfer me because I’m one of very few who can keep up with the pace, and I can’t leave bc I’m balls deep in AZU. So I feel throughout all the threats, and name calling I’ve endured from customers—despite my relentless smile and apologetic push-over attitude—I think one mental break down of a post after a 14 hour shift is probably not too bad but thanks for your support!

Dude just cause you’re busy as fuck doesn’t mean people can’t have fun with their job and share it with ppl who do the same job. I agree that sharing complex recipes invites a lot of annoying ppl to order it, but simply sharing a cute little handcrafted drink with no recipe? No issue. And hey, I hate tiktok drinks as much as the next person. But still. Sorry you can’t find any time to enjoy your job, but it doesn’t mean everyone else needs to comply with your bad attitude.

My guy just transfer to another store. I’m at one of the highest volume stores in Chicago but our managers are pretty chill. Being constantly treated like shit isn’t standard, only sometimes treated like shit.
melancholymelonboy [OP] 1 points 2y ago
I’ve asked for a transfer 7 times in the last two years. Store is too busy for them to send a strong barista anywhere else and I am too deep into ASU to fuck anything up 🥴

I mean good luck going forward at least bro, hope you get some better workaround.
