So I just switched to nights (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by HippieinBlack
And I thought everything would be fine. It’s only been the first shift of me working nights and I’m so upset. When I made the switch my manager said that my hours would be cut down a bit. I didn’t think anything of it and I told him that’s it’s ok. Guys, I looked at my schedule for next week and I only work one day. My manager never told me I would only have one shift. And it’s so funny because I was talking to my SM tonight and my SM said that the manager informed him that he had already informed me I only had one shift next week as if I was ok with this. So he just straight lied. Does that make sense? I hope it does.

The thing is, I’m not the only one he’s doing this to. He’s just been cutting hours and not communicating with us. He never told me there would be an issue switching but clearly there is. More people are thinking about switching to nights and the manager won’t even communicate with them. He said, “They haven’t requested the hours so it’s not my problem right now.” What a great managing style. What a great manager. ON TOP OF THAT, yesterday I texted my manager I couldn’t come in because of the snow and all he said was “ok”. That’s it. Come to find out, the DM said that if anyone doesn’t show up, it’s a no call no show. He never told me that either. I’m from Ohio and we just had a big snow storm. I physically couldn’t leave my house, but I had no idea I would be a no call no show. It’s been a very stressful week but thanks for reading my little rant. 😞

I hate to say it but its just a job. I went from working 30+ to 1 shift a week because my Manger went on maternity leave. You need to do whats best for you at the end of the day even if it means leaving that store.

I am only back because I got laid off , I hate my Manger and can't wait to leave the siren for a second time and hopefully not come back. The window is broken and we have no heater in dto .For the past 2 weeks it was a polar vortex with less then 0 degrees outside because in Wisconsin the air hurts your everything if you go out in the winter and all we got was dont complain anyone.Starbucks cares about nobody

As far as that calling in and getting a no call no show.... call your district/regional manager. And maybe mention your other concerns. But don't use the term lie-it looks childish. Use "poor communication," or that your store manager isn't clearly communicating the impacts of changes that you are asking for. And if you feel like the dm/rm is listening to you, share your experience with others in your store.
A lot of stores are cutting hours. But. Your manager should be communicating that with you. And ideally if conversations with them happen over text or e-mail, save them to CYA.
