Karen’s and Richard’s found us rant (self.starbucksbaristas)

It’s Day 3 in Texas where we’re suffering from cold weather, we don’t see often and mush less are prepared for to this severity. Much of south Texas as it is falls under the poverty line but oh man has it brought the worst out... Gas lines are insane with over hours of wait times. Groceries have been cleaned out.
And we have the customers at our Starbucks...
Our local Starbucks have been closed for three days now, it doesn’t take much to take a guess as to why, whether if the location has no light/ water or my biggest concern, the team members situation. Who I imagine are trying to survive as well.
That has been my response to those who ask us why all the other Starbucks are closed.
Oh man...
The replies I’ve been getting... My favorite so far...
“dO tHeY KnoW sOme oF us nEed cOfFee?”
Yeah... I’m sorry.
You know who needs a warm meal? You know who’s searching for a warm place to stay? You know who’s trying to get a warm shower after being out trying to find necessities?
Your fucking fellow baristas.
Goddamn... Are we fucking making drinks too damn hot or freezing cold? That these people are getting the last remaining brain cells fried or frozen and lack that much of fucking compassion?
Never have I worked for a company that has such a toxic customer base. I’m fed up.
I worked today and got home to no water or light... I had to drive to my closest relative to take a shower. Came back home to help my mom light up candles. Both of my parents are elderly, trying to keep them warm as best as I can. And I’m here in my pitch black room waiting for them to fall asleep so that I can cry in peace without having to worry them.
I work again tomorrow. I love my team. It’s one of the reasons I’m still willing to go in. Along with all the other reasons that one needs to still go to their job...

And all this through a pandemic.

Sending you good vibes and positive thoughts and all of the things an internet stranger is limited to from thousands of miles away.

My dude, I worked SB right after hurricane Maria struck PR. We were doing without electricity for months. Peoples still complained about our lacking certain items. Karens and Richards are simply demon spawn. They don't care how bad the situation. A few thousand could've died a month before and a half million could be living without electricity and water and they wouldn't care. It's about them. Always. Best of luck! You're better than them.
