They really are. Can’t wait to get the new cold brew machines that don’t require these filters.

When this happened to some of the newer baristas at my store they actually used tape to "fix" the hole. When I went to pitcher up the cold brew it was full of grounds and tape was floating in it... whyyyy

I almost didnt want to type this because I'm a little embarrassed by the things they do. They also tried to fix a leaky pipe with a duct tape last week. It looked like a Bob Belcher tape job too, like someone got confused and just kept taping randomly until the roll was gone.

Mine always rip after i pour the water on the outside. Gives me false hope :(

if you have a light touch you can lip the filters over the top of the toddies just barely and itll make getting water inside much easier. dont rush cold brew because the faster you go the higher your tear chance and double the time it could have been.

after the water inside, scruch it up from both ends in a zig zag so if you opened it up it looks like the bp logo on how it folds (circular even pattern of up down all around) then tie it well so grounds dont come up (double knot since it doesnt need to be opened when its done)

when you pour water outside the filter, dont do it on the filter seams, dont go fast, and do it right on the knot that you made since its the thickest part and has the most durability to withstand the water pressure

Tl;Dr: Lip filter over toddy 7 in / scrunch up the opening and double knot / Pour water on the scrunched knot 7 / Go slow then fast when pouring.

i just started about a month ago at my store and i was making toddys for the first time. The filter did the exact same thing and i ripped it :(
I felt so bad for wasting a whole bag of cold brew.
Glad to know I'm not the only one though :)

yesterday I was making cold brew when I realized that all the water was spilling out bc the tap was down since someone had put the toddy back like that. called my coworker back to show her my misery and she went to move the filter to look inside and it immediately tore right through. pain.

Shit, and those filters are expensive too 🤭

I stopped caring after a while. It settles at the bottom and whoever has it after my shift is the one that has to deal with it. I brew and that's it. 🤷🏾‍♀️
