Are you working on Mastrena 1 or 2? I have a few tips for either! 🤗

Mastrena 2, I want tips too lol

The 2 is a bit trickier. I had a hard time switching to it but the 2 steaming options are key. So I don’t know if you’ve noticed but there’s multiple clicks when you pull the wand towards you.

If you click once (not all the way down), you’ll get a very gentle aeration. I do this for 2-3 seconds, fully submerge the wand, ensure whirlpool and then click all the way down for full steam ahead.

The espresso trick doesn’t work with the 2 because you can’t lower the splitter. If time permits, I’ll just stand there and hold the cup at an angle to ensure smooth crema.

Sounds good. Do you know what kind of pours to do for certain designs?

Mastrena 1

I tend to microfoam everything (obviously not caps) but with the 1, you want to make sure you hear the paper ripping sound and I do that for like 2-3 seconds then submerge the wand and make sure it’s got the whirlpool happening. Typically I tap it on the counter to get rid of pesky air bubbles.

Sometimes the milk just doesn’t cooperate but I find it does more times than not when it’s cold.

As for the espresso, with the 1, I bring down the shot splitter so that I can prop the cup on an angle to ensure no air bubbles form in the crema.

Ohhhh ok. I was making good latte art quality foam the other day and was tilting the cup as I poured it in and like I wasn’t completely sure how to do a design. I do sometimes over steam ever so slightly so I’ll try and make sure it’s coming out microfiber and pulling the shot splitter down.
