What is the significance of foam? (self.starbucksbaristas)

Honest to goodness what is the significance of cold foam on every drink? I just don’t understand it is it for aesthetic reasons or is it for flavor because whenever I try it on the Irish cream cold brew I don’t taste the foam I mainly taste the cold brew. secondly a coworker of mine tried to make a drink called a “sunrise” apparently which is supposed to imitate a tequila sunrise with cold foam and the cold foam was just useless to the drink so I ask what is the significance of cold foam?
