I have a pretty strict availability

I’m only able to work Mondays and Wednesdays between 4am-10am

And Saturday Sunday all day

Usually after work mondays and wednesdays I’m pretty awake if not I get coffee and try to get some school work done, but mostly house stuff done (cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, therapy, etc)

Then Tuesdays and Thursday’s are more serious school work days but I still try to get done by 3pm so I can have most of the day

Friday’s are me days uwu

And saturdays and sundays I’m usually off by 4pm so I still have plenty of time to do stuff or catch up on school work if I fell behind

The biggest thing is not feeling like your day centers around work

I used to just do nothing before and after work because it just felt like that was all i could do since it can be so draining

But you sorta just have to compartmentalize it and move on to something else, you can’t just get stuck on work or yourself

Even when you’re depressed you just have to get over yourself and think about why you’re in school in the first place

Hope this helps 🥺 it works for me

hi! college freshman here, and i totally understand the scholarship stress. i live in florida and am on a 100% scholarship (bright futures is a blessing), and if i drop anywhere below a 3.5, i lose it. i also deal with mental health disorders, and even though i take my meds and try to practice wellbeing, it gets the best of me sometimes. with that lol here’s how i manage my ~30hr work weeks:

EVERY MONDAY WEDNESDAY FRIDAY: me days! that means all my college work and everything inbetween. i usually wake up around 11, eat breakfast and do a coffee run if i feel like i need it, then start on my assignments and readings. since i have 3 days every week, i usually do my classes until around 2-3. after that is lunch, then an hour rest, then i go to the gym. after the gym (which is an hour of my day give or take), i literally do any college work i didn’t wanna do in the day until dinner then sleep. night time is also when i usually do my quizzes or tests if i can. it’s more quiet than the afternoon and i can focus a LOT better.

TUESDAY, THURSDAY, AND THE WEEKEND: these are my working days. i’m usually a closer now, so i work 1-9:30 typically. the second i get home on these days, i’m simultaneously eating dinner and working on anything i couldn’t get done on my “me days.” then sleep and rinse and repeat.

i’m definitely one of those people that dives headfirst into their work and doesn’t let up until i’m near burnout (this has always been a wack ass coping mechanism for me), so while i do this it’s not advisable you and anyone else does lol.

i’m also nowhere near perfect with my “me day” planning. some of these days i literally take to lay in bed, catch up on my favorite animes, play video games, and relax. and that’s okay! they’re called me days for a reason, and i need to take care of myself before anything else. that’s why i have at least 3 days off every week. i need that time for me, my schooling, and my rest.

remember to take time to yourself. i didn’t do that at first and i burnt out fast and hard. if you need a break from work, don’t be afraid to ask for it. we’re college kids, and our schooling and ourselves most importantly come first. i believe in you!

time management is gonna be your best friend. i’m going through something similar right now and honestly planning your week ahead of time and dedicating time for all of your tasks is the best way i’ve found to do it. plan everything and i mean everything. things are gonna come up, sure, but if you have a plan you can find time to squeeze stuff in. i believe in you !

I’ll be totally honest, I didn’t balance it all. I recently withdrew from all my classes and I was only doing 10 credits this semester. I probably could’ve found a way for it to work but with my mental health issues I just can’t handle going to school right now especially in a pandemic. I understand you have the added pressure of keeping a scholarship but considering you got it in the first place you sound smart and you’ve made it this far. At the end of the day if you need to limit your availability or quit altogether to prioritize your degree then do that. You come first.

I'm with ya, I'm in 5 classes and my manager scheduled me 29 hrs a week, but make sure you have time to do your hw and attend class!! school and mental health comes before this job. I asked for far less hours to focus on school. As for motivation, I try to do hw before work, as I work 1pm shifts, because ain't no homegirl doing hw after a 1-10 shift 😂 be realistic about planning hw time. try to plan hw days not working and if need be, before work! I also love grabbing my free drink before a long study sesh, coffee really gives off the student aesthetic vibes🙈

I agree with everyone that having a me day is super important. I always have 1 day off on the weekend for me. I work the other. And I usually work thursdays and Fridays too. I work about 20-25 hours a week and I do homework and projects Monday thru Wednesday after class. Sometimes I work on them after work too but I never pressure myself to do so. Honestly it’s about time management and knowing what you can and can’t Handle. I dropped a class to have a lighter class time bc I couldn’t handle it first semester. You’ve got this
