Tall barista = neck pain 🥲 (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by keithct6
Hey guys. Sorry if this topic was already covered I couldn’t find anything on it. So I have a problem. I’m tall ish (6’) and the screens at the drive through and the mastrenas are too low for me it seems, and after every longer shift I do I get really bad neck and back pain. I’ve already switched to good work insoles and I do neck stretches in my breaks but I constantly have to look down to work so it keeps hurting. I’m wondering if any of you had this issue and could give me some advice, thank you!!

I appreciate all you tall baristas cause ya girl only 5' and can't reach the top shelf 🥺

Hahaha it seems that every one I work with is short and I’m definitely the nominated “tall guy” xD. Blessing and a curse

I like to say "tall assist" ! XD or "lemme borrow your height"

From my tall friend: keep your shoulders back. You'll want to stay hunching over but it'll end up making it worse.

My suggestion would be to try and become a strong warming or customer support cycle partner. That'll hopefully keep you off bar and register more?

Thank you! I do try to do support and warming cause they are indeed easier on the back. I’ll keep in mind the shoulders tip :)

Thanks! Yeah, this seems to be the solution. Time to nag my shift leads to not put me on bar 😂
