if it becomes consistent, yes. the system doesn’t keep track of your mark out so it will allow it. it’s your responsibility to tell the barista that you’re only doing the discount.

I think it was more these baristas were taking advantage of their markouts. Using numbers to get friends, family, customers free or discounted drinks consistently, not marking out drinks during shifts. My SM said it’s more so we’re not being reimbursed for using our discount or free drinks. Using their partner bevs at the end of their shift to mark out 4 or 5 drinks, etc.
You’ll be fine. Your cookie and tea would count as your food and drink for your shift and the first one is your covid benefit. I think the issue was more that it was happening so often. POS is able to show who’s numbers, how often, on what orders, on what till, etc. my district cracked down significantly on enforcing these policies recently but partners at one store took advantage of those perks and it effected the rest of us. Can’t make my own food or drink anymore which is what annoys me the most.
My manager said imagine 1 partner from every store forgets to mark out their drink. That’s a lot of money lost. Not marking drinks or food out is considered stealing which is a fireable offense. These are rules we signed agreeing we would follow when we were hired so it’s not new plus we shouldn’t have been till sharing anyway.
You’ll be fine. If it happens once or twice you’ll be fine but if it happens 10 times a week then there’s an issue. Maybe just say to the barista ringing you out hey I used my covid markout already today. We have a partner from another store who comes maybe twice a day she just has to use her discount and for her drink on her second visit that’s all.
