a rant about my last shift (self.starbucksbaristas)

Sorry but we just got a new manager and I just don’t think she knows how to schedule and she never actually works on the floor. i’ve seen her on the floor maybe 2 times since she got here which was 3 months ago. Yesterday, during peak might i add, there was 3 people on the floor. keep in mind our store is a super busy store, because it’s the only one within like 15 miles. there was a new person on cafe bar, and a new person soloing drive through, and i was on drive through bar. there was nobody on food, nobody on cold bar, nobody on front. there was about 40 mobile/cafe orders and like 20 people in the lobby just staring at the new girl and it was just so stressful. I was getting super pissed and frustrated because nobody was there to get us backups or kegs or anything and we were just super behind and there were also like 10 people in the back just talking and doing training, 2 of those people were supposed to be helping us. it was ridiculous and i wish that I could tell the DM or something but apparently she never answers the phone and starbucks corporate is super hard to get a hold of and they probably wouldn’t even do anything. So yeah that’s all. i was just super mad. has anyone ever experienced something like that or have any suggestions on what i can do to never experience something like that again or should i just find a new job because my past couple shifts have been just like that or similar.

tbh my last manager would never go near the floor and i just left for a while then up and went to a different store. my new store is half the volume of my old one and my mental health is saved. also my manager was a barista for years so she jumps right on the floor during rushes. do yourself a favor and try to find a store thats a better fit! ❤️

I can’t tell you how many times something similar has happened to me. I’m still at this crappy store but I suggest you find a better store where your partners won’t leave you hanging like that, that is terrible!

I’m not seeing how it’s your managers fault when the people who should’ve been helping you were goofing off.

She’s not managing them properly. They’re her responsibility too.

Now if your manager not scheduling enough people then I would say yeah it’s on your manager

i agree, i feel like at our peak we could use a few more people, i remember at my old store which wasn’t even that busy we usually had like 7 people there and plus my manager was always there on the busiest days of the week like sundays

Dude we’re never staffed enough for Sunday’s when we get slammed. We have maybe 5 or 6 when we maybe should have 7 and my manager and ASM are never there on weekends.
