As someone who works at one of the top busiest stores (DT) in the state, yup.
Why am I making the same busting my ass for 31 sec DT times when there’s people out there who get 3 customers an hour. And have plenty of time for making tik tok videos that fuck over everyone, especially busy stores like mine. I barely have time to even take a 2 minute bathroom break.

Glad I’m not the only one feeling this way... Whenever I work at cafe stores it literally feels like a day off to me. Tsk.

I work at a cafe only and we're pretty consistently busy. It's different than DT but we have a lot of pressure in mobile orders. But i think we're one of the best in a 5 mile radius, there's 2 other DT stores near us and we're probably second busiest. People are impressed by our speed, and im proud of it too! :))

Just because the cafe store you covered at was slower, doesn’t mean they all are. I come from a very high volume cafe store 🥴

I worked at a DT store that did 60-70 transactions per half hour. Then I went to a cafe only store that did 120-130 transactions. I would have gone straight back to that DT store if I could have; nothing was worth the insanity of literally hundreds of customers coming through every hour. Even with 11 people during peak it was still ridiculous. (My DT store got 6 for peak except on Friday when it got 7, and it was honestly wayyyyy easier to deal with.)
How hectic a store is depends entirely on the volume and management. Type of store (DT vs cafe) really doesn't make a difference in my experience.

Lol don’t get me wrong. I’m not discrediting cafe stores here, I understand that you guys get busy. However, you need to acknowledge that:
Working at a busy DT store is WAY more hectic than working at a busy cafe store. You literally need 3 people on the floor dedicated to drive thru; one to take orders and one to take payment, and the other to make DT drinks. For stores that aren’t getting as much labor, working DT sucks. Cafe store over DT store any day.

Excuse me? You already have more staff and that’s a bonus. How does more staff make it harder? Please work at a BUSY cafe store before gloating one is harder. Have 3 staff from 1-close trying to deal with Cafes, constant mobiles, Uber orders, and closing tasks. I’ve worked at my sister stores DT and just the sheer amount of staff already made things easier than it was at my cafe store. I’m not saying DT easy, but not all cafe stores are easy either.
Just because you had an experience that led you to believe all cafe stores are easier doesn’t make it true. You’re no better than us.
neonphoenixslayer-1 points2y ago
Umm I literally can use the same argument back at you. Just because your sister’s store has the labor doesn’t mean that every DT store has the labor. I’ve run peaks multiple times with the cafe flooded, non stop mobile and Uber orders, and a DT line up with just THREE people on the floor.
Anyway... it sucks for both of us. Let’s just leave it there.

I can’t because you think you deserve more pay just for working at a busier DT than one slow cafe store you worked at and think all cafe stores don’t do “the same level of work” 🙄 we just don’t have a DT. Doesn’t make ALL cafe stores easy or slow. The work is just different. Are there some that are slow? Of course, I’m sure there are slower DTs than yours. Would you like it if someone at a just slightly busier DT made more than you even though your particular DT is also busy?

They have potential for larger bonuses based on sales but the salary is the same

They make the same amount of money, unless they been longer/ different state/district. It’s also depends if they were hired as managers or got promoted over the years. For your argument, that DT should get paid more. I see your point but it’s invalid. I worked both types and both have positive and negative. DT is getting more labor because it’s usually require that. DT stores are usually smaller than caffe. The definition of busy is depends on how many partners you. You may have one person doing one task at the DT while on caffe you have one person doing two or more tasks. DT is busier (most of the time) but you get two times the labor. At the end of the day they both tired as much. They shouldn’t be any reason why they both would get the same pay. They both work hard. Now you probably gonna say well now supervisors have more work to do because of the amount of people they have lead. DT stores have more labor for shifts too. (Same idea)
I seen both type of stores slow, or busy. Both should get the same pay non the less. You worked once in a caffe isn’t enough to experience it.

It’s not always the case. I was a DT manager. I stepped down when I found out that a cafe SM in my district made $10k more than me.
neonphoenixslayer3 points2y ago
This is fu*ked up. I’m so sorry. Was there even tiniest bit of a valid reason behind it?
okayteenay2 points2y ago
Nope. But it’s hard for me not to think that gender had a role to play in it. Also, SM pay isn’t that great when you consider the stress involved. At the time, with 6+ years as an SM under my belt, I was making about as much as a McDonalds manager.
