So I work at a grocery store starbucks, and most of my coworkers say that I'm too nice and apologize too much. Especially to rude customers.
I stood up for myself for the first time today because a customer asked if I could make his drink in his reusable one, my manager had told me in the past we can't due to covid. I let the customer know and he just got huffy and called out his order as he walked away all in a attitude tone. He comes back and I ask him for his order, he tells me and I repeat it just to be sure, then ask if he wants whip cream. He said 'what did you say?' I repeat my question, he asks again, and I repeat. He then becomes frustrated when I try one more time and says 'I KNOW what whip cream is, I'm asking if you said cafe mocha.' I'm just ???? Bro what.
He goes to pay in cash and makes a snide comment, 'money is dirtier.' It honestly took all of me to not say 'Your attitude is nastier.' Whatever, I make the drink and hand it off. He says thank you, which I appreciate. I go to help another customer, he's behind the new customer and asks if he could cut so he could ask me something. I firmly say to him, 'Sir. I'm helping this customer right now. You need to wait.' I finish the transaction and make the new customer's drink, and I noticed the guy left. Thankfully.
Honestly if there's any tips you guys can share, I'd really appreciate it because I want to be able to stand up for myself.
