(vent) what I really wanted to say when calling out (self.starbucksbaristas)

I'm so soso sorry. I just need one day to catch up. I have an exam tomorrow I haven't prepared for because I have been so swamped by my other classes. I'm moving this weekend and have class all day tomorrow, so all of my weekend homework/projects need to be done tonight and tomorrow. I should have asked for more than just one day off but I didn't know I would be this behind. Please don't hate me. There's no one that can cover for me :(

I know everyone has stuff going on but I don't think I would have been a positive bean on the floor today. My mental health is straight garbage right now, I had a breakdown yesterday. It doesn't help it was my favorite shift who opened this morning. I hate having to lie but I don't think homework is an acceptable excuse lol

If my coworkers can call out for hangovers, you can call in for homework.

May your grind me blessed, child.

You're not a robot. You deserve rest.

from my experience most shifts and sm’s want the student baristas to put school first. as long as you give them a heads up and try to find coverage (and they’re nice, reasonable people) they tend not to mind. you shouldn’t ever be worried about flunking out of school because you had to make coffee for strangers.

Dude I found coverage Tuesday because I’ve been in a majority of the last 3 weeks and I could tell my mood was turning to shit. My mental capacity was close to 0 so I decided to take a mental health day. Just told my sm I found coverage and she was like “sounds good”. You have to take care of yourself. I needed that day off. I feel so much better now that I had a day to recoup and just be lazy. You shouldn’t feel bad at all.
