How to declare cash tips now in the future?(self.starbucksbaristas)

Green bean here! Never had a job that ever gave tips!! So since the Weekly Update told us we have to start declaring the cash tips ourselves on the MPI and store computer -- how do I do it? I only started working in Jan 2021 and nobody told me the tips were taxed to begin with so I didn't keep any of my envelopes with the cash.
When I get a sealed envelope for cash tips, do I just report it the day I got it for the week I got it? (Example: 16$ on March 1st for the current 2 week pay period?) I only get the envelopes once during my two-week work period (I think) and I'm going to keep the envelopes from March 2nd to the future as reference. I'm still asking my coworkers and one said just to continue reporting it as 0.50 cents (feels wrong I dont think I want to do that?). So does anyone have any clearer instructions on how to report our cash tips so the IRS won't kick down my door?

Just declared my first time this week ! Log into MY partner info, and click on declare tips and type the amount you got on the day ! Boom easy.

Technically we’ve always been responsible for declaring tips. Starbucks declared a flat .50/hr but most people averaged more than that. Now, they will declare all electronic tips and we have to declare cash separately. I believe you can go into MyPartnerInfo and declare for each pay period but I’m not 100% certain as I haven’t looked at it yet.

On the day you get your tips you’re gonna log onto the store computer and head to partner hub. then you’re gonna find my partner info on either the front page or you can search for it. Once in my partner info (you‘ll have to use forgot password if you haven’t logged onto it before) you’re gonna go to declared tips. You have to keep up with it bc it only allows you to edit the current pay period tips. then you find the date you got your tips in the drop down box and you put in the dollar amount for your tips and hit save/submit (I don’t remember which one it is). make sure it’s correct because I don’t think you can edit these, you can also only put in the info on a store computer. double check if you get tips weekly or every other week. hope this helps!

okay! so let's say I get a 15$ cash envelope between March 1st-14th, I'd just enter in the day I got the 15$ and that's it? I don't need to do any math to figure out how much tips I get in a day?? Sorry I just don't want to do it wrong and I work closing shifts so I hardly ever see my manager face 2 face to ask.

I personally don’t calculate how many tips I get in a day because it’s too much work lol. all that matters is that you are reporting all the cash tips that you receive, as far as I know. Also tips are calculated by hours worked per week not per day.

I also recommend making and keeping an excel/google sheets for your tips for your own records to compare to what you’ve already declared when you do your taxes next year.

Update! Received my two cash envelopes with (-30) or so dollars and was able to report them last night for the pay period :)! Thanks everyone!

I’m also really confused as to how it’s all supposed to work. And like, do we have to do it every week too?

Woooooooww....is this normal now? My last bar job (UK)was like 7 or 8 years ago and that was the first time I saw tips paid through as wages. I've never really thought about since. That's grim :(
