Hey Los Angeles partners, what's your base pay? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by zombiecabbage
I'm looking to transfer to an LA store from another part of SoCal and I was wondering what the pay difference would be. I make $14.50 an hour at my current store.

I work in LA county and make 16.52 as a barista

I know every month is different and we all work different hours, but how much would you say you make a month?
blondiebarista 1 points 2y ago
If I use this month as an example, before taxes, insurance, and my 401K I will make $1577 but after that it’ll be around $1200. This doesn’t include tips either but I only make 20ish a week in tips.

About how many hours do you work?
blondiebarista 2 points 2y ago
I get scheduled about 25-30 hours a week and I pick up shifts as much as I can. Looking at my store schedule almost every barista works 30 or less hours

I think I’m San Bernardino county technically and base pay right now is $15.77

that’s odd, I was hired in Dec 2020 and that was the pay!
zombiecabbage [OP] 1 points 2y ago
Yeah before then I was getting paid $13.25, then in December 2020 they gave us a raise to $14.50/hr

Ahhh thats why you're all so happy here. UK Starbucks (according to my googling) get around £8.29 per hour.
Anyone care to correct that?

By the way this is a really wholesome place. I like you guys. Can't be mad at a Starbucks barrista, my work day would be a nightmare without you 👍

LA and SoCal are SUPER expensive. My guess is that $14/15 an hour doesn’t go far. Rent for a small apartment runs $2-3k/month, I believe.

Yeah I’m asking around to see if I can afford a $2,500 apt with my boyfriend 😭

Wow! I've got a nice 2 bedroom, end terrace house and it's only £390 per month through the local council. If I lived where I work though, which isnt very far, then Id easily pay £1500-£2000 for the same house.
Dude at my works got a 1 bedroom flat in the city centre that he pays over £1000 a month for. That would get him a 5-8 bedroom house where I am depending on how lucky he got.
