This is my first post on Reddit lol but I finally quit my job. I only worked at Starbucks for a year and I understand that there are plenty of good locations but oh my gosh I couldn’t handle one more week at my store.
My boss is a cranky sexist baby that can’t go 20 minutes without taking a cigarette break and makes everyone’s life so much harder. He is a very hard worker but so, so mean. I’m sick of hearing him call people stupid or say someone’s being dramatic who’s just trying they’re best. The way he talks to and about women makes me feel so gross, especially when he makes comments about (young) women to some of my male coworkers (including my bf) and it is so uncomfortable, mans is married and like 50. He also tells girls that we’re out of a specific thing (like vsc or white mocha) which is a total lie but then sell it to any man that comes by and it makes no sense. When a big group of teen girls comes in he’s like “get the shakers and blenders ready” in a condescending tone so they can hear and he’s so mean to them! He’s also once told me women are bad at cleaning.
A probably more annoying part is that we usually work with 3-4 people on the floor all day. We’re busy and we need way more than that. So I’m often working an 8 hr closing shift (out at 10:30) and going in the next morning at 6 am for a five-ten hour shift. Seriously I have a surgery and doctors appointments coming up which my manager knows about but he’s still putting me on from 6:30am -5:00pm on a Monday. IM IN HIGH SCHOOL!!!!!!!
I’m not sure about the regular amount of partners on the floor since I’ve only worked at this one store but there are 5+ year partners who tell me that we should be working with 6 people. Just the other day I was working with a new partner and my shift supervisor. Supervisor went on they’re half and it was just me and the new parter. Of course we got a rush, The store practically burned down. I’m bad at most positions except bar so that made it harder for me as well. The new parter is doing so well and they’re so nice, it’s not they’re fault, it was just a bad position we were put in.
Also you’re supposed to be trained??? I never got training at another store or mine (we don’t have any trainers. We have but 15 partners total or something like that). So it just made the job so much more stressful.
I could go on for pages about all the bad stuff my manager pulls but will not because I am probably wasting my breath... through text.
If anyone from my store sees this and thinks it’s me bc i know some of y’all are on here, I love u I just can’t handle the management
