Better part time jobs than Starbucks? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by blkjoey
I’ve been at my store for a little over a year, and while I like it enough and my coworkers, some people are leaving or I just don’t see them as much and it isn’t as fulfilling as it once was. I’m still in school and was wondering if anyone has pivoted to another part time job that had similar pay/ or fun environment?

Not a lot of competitive fast food pays well compared to Starbucks at least in my state. Only two competitors will pay well (In N Out and Chick Fil A) but Starbucks still out pays. Leaving due to coworkers leaving isn’t ideally good imo as it doesn’t suit you in adapting well as you look for fun. Like is your store becoming toxic? Hell I have had 3 competitor coffee chain message me with job offered but they want to pay me less than Starbucks. I told them give me $x more than what I’m making here and you got yourself a deal.

Can you elaborate about on those coffee chains please. Did they message you out of the blue and are you like a SM or something. I’m just curious.

The manager for those chains found my profile on LinkedIn (I have a updated resume and have Starbucks as my current listen employer.) One was called Pete’s Cafe, the other one was Coffee Bean and Tea, forgot the 3rd one as it was out of state and didn’t want to move while I was still in school.

Since you already have barista experience, probably a barista job at Whole Foods. I think the starting hourly pay is $15. But I don’t have experience there, I’d probably look into benefits and such.
