HR???? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Cute_Fail_1759
Hi guys,

My store manager told the person I reported for saying a derogatory comment in front of customers that I reported, do I go to HR? Will they do something? I just called out this morning, which I don't do often and now I feel like my boss is going to fire me because she said we need to have a talk for no reason even though I informed the shift like I should and looked for coverage which was easily found.

My manager also doesn't wear a mask most of the time and talks very rudely to me, even other baristas/shifts have said something to me about it because they don't think its right. She only does it to me and one of my coworkers thinks she's homophobic(I'm a lesbain)

I'm very stressed because I get my health insurance through the company and I have no idea what I'm going to do without it since I have a few medical conditions that require some better quality insurance that would usually cost a lot more.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

u need to report your store manager as well for not wearing a mask and creating the partner experience for u. to get fired u have to have a paper trail so dont worry about that

Yes report. You need be as specific as possible when you call partner resources. Have names, dates, and as close to exact quotes as you can. vague and incomplete complaints usually don't get resolved.

Document everything. Take notes during your shifts and when management talks to you. Try to take notes on specific things like unequal rule enforcement. Preserve the evidence by emailing yourself the notes immediately after taking them, bc it also timestamps them. And if HR say they're recording the call, record it for your records (if they record it that means they also consent to being recorded).

Also, I suggest try to organize your store. Talk with sympathetic coworkers. Make a plan between you guys to talk with the rest of your coworkers. Try to do some action to hold this manager accountable. Can be simple like writing a petition together with them and presenting it *as a group*. I'm always down to talk thru any of this stuff
